SAINTS INTO THE RUGBY WORLD CUP PLAYOFFS
Huge win over San Haven yesterday propels them forward.

The Saints are through!  After a nail-biting first half the Saints burst through in the second half scoring 3 tries to outlast a tough San Haven team to take 1st overall in their grouping in the Rugby World Cup V.

Led by the speed of newly acquired Jerry Corin at inside centre, plus the rucking of their entire pack.  The Saints silenced their critics proving that they truly did deserve to be at the Rugby World Cup.

'Awesome!', yelled a inspired Denver Kirkland, starting 8-man for the Sacredicity Saints.

The game itself started poorly for the Saints with San Haven getting the first try at the 8 minute mark as their backs momentarily froze the Saints outside centre Geoff Ryio with a switch.  When Ryio finally came out of his stance their backs were gone for a try and a 7-0 lead for San Haven.

At the 25 minute mark the Saints were finally able to get even with the San Haven squad after the Saints mighty pack was able to continually pound the opposition with ruck after ruck until Kirkland was able to burst through their tackling and touch the ball down which with the convert tied it at seven a piece.  The tie however would be short lived as minutes later at the 29 minute mark the San Haven squad hit a dropkick through for a 10-7 advantage.

The Saints battled back however and in the 33rd minute it was their pack again pounding away, this time flanker Sam Oroi was able to ruck through and score which with the try gave the Saints their first lead of the match 14-10.

Prior to the half the San Haven squad was able to retake the lead off another backs run to make the score 17-14 so Sacredicity coach Albert Greenshaw apparently gave his team an earful.

Whatever he said worked cause on the restart, inside centre Jerry Corin caught the ball and ran through broken tackles on route to a try for the Saints and a 21-17 lead.

The San Haven defense after that miscue tightened up and the two teams battled for every inch on the field with tackle after tackle being made by both squads.

Finally in the 79th minute, the Saints were able to extend their lead and put the game out of reach when Corin again took a pass from flyhalf Donald Atkinson, just prior to the try line, and burst through a tackle, touching the ball down to score the last try of the match and give the Saints, with the successful convert, a commanding 28-17 lead.

At the final sound of the whistle, both teams celebrated as the Artitsa vs Rorysville match final score was shown on the stadium scoreboard.

The Saints now prepare for their quarterfinal against a good team from the nation of Milchama.  The entire nation no doubt wishes them the best in their endeavours as they represent our nation proudly.

The Saints scored a lot of tries in their pursuit of the RWC playoffs.
