MAGNA CARTA BATTLE PEARSON CLIFFS FOR GRIDIRON CUP.
.

PFT News, Athens

For those who are not aware the nation of PopularFreedom has a football league.  In its inaugural season it has not received much of any coverage from the national media though that has not stopped it from gaining fans, sponsors, and interest.  Now the championship is played today with the surprising Magna Carta Extreme Eagles squaring off to face the Pearson Cliffs Air Force in the battle for the Gridiron Cup.

Magna Carta, a late addition to the league after the initial announcement of 6 teams in March, defeated the Athens Black Cougars 28-23 to make it to the big match this Sunday.  Pearson Cliffs, the favourites for this upcoming Gridiron Cup match, took out the Loyalty Bay Armada in the other semifinal 33-17.

Though football still is not the national pastime the amount of interest we have seen across the nation in this new league is overwhelming', noted PopularFreedom Football League CEO Gildon Frasi.  Other journalists have noted a huge surge in the popularity of the game at all levels from elementary school upwards.  The championship game today therefore should help with this increased exposure.

A Magna Carta receiver comes down with the ball in last week's semi final against the Black Cougars in Athens.
