Loyalty Bay has proven itself the birthing grounds for soccer talent. North Beach was able to capture the Helmet Rahn Cup with a come from behind victory in Northwest Prussia on Sunday. Down 2-1 going into the 70th minute it looked bleak for our PopularFreedom boys, then striker Shawn Peruvo was sprung on a breakaway to even the score past a shocked Vlavianos goalkeeper. 'I don't know how that happened', noted a exuberant Peruvo after the game. 'They had the momentum for the majority of the game and then all of a sudden their defense just let me through, musta not known what I could do with the ball.' Minutes after the equalizer it was Peruvo again who directed a corner kick head first into the goal to take the lead. ________________________________________ '...I knew our boys could take them.' -Shark coach, Dennis Viltacore. ________________________________________ When the final whistle blew a dejected Vlavianos team watched as the North Beach Sharks burst into ruckus celebration. 'We were the underdogs going into this game despite our round-robin play', noted coach Dennis Viltacore. 'I think the crowd expected us to lose despite our play thus far because we are a newcomer here but still I knew our boys could take them'. |
