After a dismal start to the season the Lenita Legions have not looked back amassing win after win including their championship yesterday at home. 'Had you told us we would win the championship after the Imperials game I think I would have looked at you funny', noted Legions Inside Centre William Tiffive after the game. 'That game kinda shook us up, and the last game of the season where we beat the Warriors I think made us know that this trophy was ours.' Fans throughout the city and the surrounding region streamed onto the streets after the win to celebrate the victory by their hometown team. 'Nice to see things in the league getting back to normal, the Warriors lose, as it is suppose to be', yelled one exuberant fan outside of Legionnaire Grounds Stadium after the big win. ________________________________________ 'They were the better team today, that is why they won'. -Warriors Coach, David Jeffs. ________________________________________ Meanwhile in the Warriors locker room there was a deathly silence. Mike Pye especially, looked dejected after missing a tackle on the 1st try of the second half which put Lenita up by 24-13. 'We had the momentum', noted a despondent Pye. We were down 17-0 early yet managed to claw back to 17-13 by halftime, then we just blew it, I just blew it.' Coach David Jeffs summarized his teams play by noting that, 'they [the Lenita Legions] were the better team today, that is why then won. They hit harder, they rucked better, they passed faster, and they played with more heart. They wanted it more, simple. |
