What a great day for rugby. Grays Harbour broke a halftime deadlock, and held on to defeat Aldeshar to win the first annual Rugby International Tournament 28-21. The bronze medal game saw Northwest Prussia thoroughly outclass Nastic to win the game easily 31-14. Locke Harbour fans were on hand to help all 4 teams in their matches throughout the day. Most seemed to appreciate the fine level of competition on their field. 'Better than the ****bowl that is gonna happen this afternoon between the Dragons and the Imperialists', noted one Locke Harbour fan. 'I am so happy with the international games that I might leave before Locke Harbour takes the field and ruins a wonderful day', noted another. Locke Harbour fans however were in for another treat when their own Dragons crushed the Imperialists 73-11 in the last game of their season. As fans left they were smiling despite the fact that their team would miss the playoffs. 'Just wish they played like that the rest of the games', noted one upbeat fan. Other fans however were still not impressed. 'Joy, they killed a crummy team in a nothing game. The dragons still suck, [new head coach] Wright is the same as Martin just totally useless', noted one less than appreciative Dragon fan. Look for a lot of moves in the off-season in Locke Harbour in this reporter's opinion. ________________________________________ 'We lose one game and we lose home field advantage,...I feel worse than Workers Point right now' -Luke Peterson, Warriors winger. ________________________________________ In Peace meanwhile the hometown zoo came out in full regalia only to be disappointed by a far superior Legions squad. Flanker Garth Drake of the Legions scored 2 tries in the early few minutes to help Lenita defeat the Peace Warriors in dramatic fashion to take the game and 1st place going into the playoffs. After the game the Peace Warriors were extremely disheartened. Coach David Jeffs noted, 'we wanted to host both playoff games, now we get neither, that so does suck'. Lenita, with their big win yesterday was able to amass 13 points. Athens meanwhile knocked off Workers Point 10-7 to acquire 12 points by the end of the season. Peace meanwhile ended the season with 11 points. 'We lose one game and we lose home field advantage, I think I feel worse than Workers Point right now', noted Warrior winger Luke Peterson. Lenita players meanwhile were joyous celebrating in their locker room. a jubilant inside centre William Tiffive spoke directly with our reporters after dousing them with champagne. 'We were not expecting this, we knew we could beat them but not by such a large score, this is so wonderful. Bring on the Pirates!' |
