Clearwater in their best performance of the tournament defeated what most observers felt had been the strongest team of the tournament thus far for their first win here in PopularFreedom. Vlavianos basically assured a playoff spot for Sunday, rested many of their starters to ensure they were not burnt by the injury bug, however it was the Clearwater team that ended up burning them, badly. Peter Georgallis, coach of the Vlavianos squad noted that, 'we wanted to rest some of our starters and get some of our substitutes some playing time, I guess now they know why they are not starting'. ________________________________________ '...I came to see Philpot play, not sit on the bench....' -rugby fan at Champions Heaven stadium. ________________________________________ Fans at the game were not impressed however with the decision of the Vlavianos coach. One rugby fan at the game fumed, 'what kind of garbage is this, I can see this joke for rugby watching a [Viscount Bennett] Imperialists game. I came to see Philpot (Vlavianos prop) play, not sit on the bench had I have known I would've saved my money for the New Yavin [vs] West Olympia game'. Clearwater in their defence played an outstanding game, scoring virtually whenever they got the ball. 'Too bad they did not play like that the whole tournament', lamented one fan. |
