The government yesterday, with support from the 2 biggest opposition
parties was able to quickly pass through the anti-euthanasia bill
yesterday.
MP Kim Veri was happy about the passing, 'we need to respect human life, money should be spent on finding effective treatments for diseases, not quicker ways of killing people'. Alder Hilling of the Economic Party likewise was supportive of the bill. 'We need a society that spends public funds effectively. Paying doctors to kill patients is not an effective way of spending taxpayers dollars'. ________________________________________ '...paying doctors to kill patients is not an effective way of spending taxpayers dollars.' -Alder Hilling, leader of the Economic Party. ________________________________________ Pro-Euthanasia groups though were disappointed with the response of the government. 'So what they are telling us is that animals are treated better in death than we are', stated an angry Laura Feller, leader of the national euthanasia coalition. |
