BOBCATS MAUL DRAGONS.

Dragon fans can only wonder how much worse it can get.

PFT News, Locke Harbour

The rematch of the championship from last year turned into a one-sided, mismatch.  The results were close though the Bobcats knocked the Dragons out of contention within the first 5 minutes.

Jason O'Neal got the score rolling as he slipped through the Dragon defense, 'like a knife through butter', and scored a first minute try off the opening kickoff.  O'Neal's try was followed by Flanker Herman Chin rumbling through half the Dragon forwards for a try off the restart.

With both converts good and the score 14-0 at 1:36 gone in the first the insults started to hurl down from Dragon faithful on the homefield 'Champions Heaven'.

Less than a minute later and O'Neal got the ball again from Scrum Half Robbin Edwards.  A quick little up and over and the Dragon defense again was paralyzed.  O'Neal collected the ball and was then gone.  The convert was good and before the 5th minute it was 21-0 Bobcats.

'They were never in it, not really sure why, it was like as if they just did not show up to the game and our boys fully capitalized on it.  The only concern for me is why we didn't score more when in the red zone',  stated coach Peru Gonzales.

As most noted, how they did not score more remains puzzling since 90% of the game was played within the Dragons first 22.

Fans at Champions Heaven stadium hurled projectiles at the team as they left both for half and at the end of the match.  'After all the hype, all the promises that they were going to improve, they put on a display my toddler could have done on his own', vented one fan.  Another fan with a paper bag with holes over his head and a Dragon sweater on noted, 'that was the most disgusting, ugly, hall of shame worthy game I have ever seen'.

Locke Harbour coach Andrew Martin noted that, 'we did play poorly but our fans understand and it is only a few who reacted in such juvenile fashion by throwing cups of beer at us'.

In the opinion of this reporter though it was the entire crowd as a whole that seemed to react in disgust to the play of the Dragon players.  At one point near the end of the game it seemed that the entire crowd had broken into their own unique rendition of the song for African aid, 'we are the world' though the words for this one were, 'we are the worst, we are the dragons'.

'I saw sheets of paper with those words printed on them in the stands after the game', noted captain Owen Clarke.  'So our fans can prepared as always though it obviously wasn't victory that they expected and we obviously proved them right unfortunately'.

'They're just lucky it was beer', quipped one fan after the game.  'If they are still playing this poorly their next home game, I know some fans that are going to be using their lighters on their drinks prior to being thrown'.
