This is old news. This is news for people who have just begun listening. For those dedicated listeners, you already know all this old shit.
Okay, once upon a time there lived a boy named Anthony. Anthony had a job "tin knocking", or as you and I think of them, air conditioning and heating guys. But there was something special about Anthony; he didn't want to be a tin knocker all his life. Anthony wanted to be in New York radio. Well, time passed. Then, one day, another boy (named OJ Simpson) killed two people. It looked very much like he was going to go to jail and be executed out in California. Anthony thought this a great premise for a song parody. He also thought it a good idea to send said parody in to Opie on WBAB. Turns out, that was a great idea because Opie loved it so much and thought it so funny that he invited Anthony and his band in to the studio to perform the song. The chemistry between Anthony and Opie was aparent immediately. Before they knew it, the Opie and Anthony show was born and they were off to Boston. But Boston was not Anthony's dream, New York was.
Some years passed.
Anthony and Opie were doing fine in Boston on WAAF when April Fools' Day rolled around. Then it went bad. They said the Mayor had died in a car crash as a joke and they got fired. But that was okay because WNEW in New York picked up the Opie and Anthony Show quicker than they could ever have imagined. That was almost 3 years ago. Now Anthony is part of the #1 rated afternoon radio show in NY. Pretty much right where he knew he'd be.
