| Since I was there to witness "history in the making", I decided to add the script excerpt that Zach read from for his audition. | ||||||||||||||
| Marsha: Now do you understand why I called you? They're planning to murder me! Virgil: You should call the police, Marsha! Marsha: I tried that. They wouldn't come. Virgil: Whyever not? Marsha: Who knows?! Maybe this isn't a high-crime-rate area! Virgil: But you've got to do something! Marsha: Such as?! I can't think of a thing! That's why I called you! Virgil: You could tell them you know! Marsha: They'd just kill me sooner. Virgil: You could move out of the apartment! Marsha: What excuse could I make? Virgil: Say you're visiting an aunt in San Francisco! Marsha: Isn't that rather far away? Virgil: You don't really go there--you come over and stay at my place! Marsha: (recoils) How dare you! Virgil: I thought you were in love with me?! Marsha: (caught) Oh! I am! Terribly! But-- what would people think?! Virgil: Who's going to know?! Marsha: Well-- that's true enough-- still it only delays matters. We have to find out some way to stop them, finally and forever! Virgil: (shrugs) The only way to do that would be to murder them first! Marsha: (elated) Virgil! That's it! How shall we do it? Virgil: We? Marsha: You'd let me face them alone? Virgil: Well-- if you put it that way-- Marsha: Good! Now, let me see... there are two of them-- and two of us-- Virgil: I don't relish the idea of a struggle-- no telling which pair is the better fighter-- we've got to be clever about it! Marsha: And fast! I've only got till tomorrow! Virgil: Do you have a gun? Marsha: No. Do you? Virgil: No. I hate guns! (I added bold and italic to emphasis how he said it) Marsha: Me, too. And even if I didn't-- I'm not sure I'd have the nerve to just haul off and shoot somebody. Virgil: Even if you had, things could get sticky afterward when the police came around. |

| Audition tidbits: During the line "I thought you were in love with me", he says in it in such a way that made everyone laugh. The same goes with the line "No, I hate gun." Zach's charm was just right for the role, and made it easy for me to see why he got the role. (If he didn't, there would probably be something wrong with "the world"). | ||||||||||||||
