| 2005 once again saw production limited by weather conditions. Below zero freezes in the winter, followed by late frosts, followed with periods of dry weather limited total production to just over 2 tons. Here is a summary of production by variety: Foch 460 pounds or 4.6 lb/vine equals 1.38T/ac Leon Millott 400 pounds or 4.0 lb/vine equals 1.2T/ac Traminette 935 pounds or 3.11 lb/vine equals .94T/ac Chamborcin 595 pounds or 3.97 lb/vine equals 1.2 T/ac Cabernet Sauvignon 925 pounds or 3 lb/vine equals .9T/ac Gewurztraminer 25pounds or Crop failure ;-( Total production 4,079 pounds on 2 acres Grapes were sold to area wine makers as well as to Lovers Leap Vineyard and Chrisman Mills Winery. I also kept enough grapes to make the following wine for myself: 15 gallons Traminette 5 gallons Foch 2 gallons Gewurztraminer 4 gallons Cabernet Sauvignon 5 gallons Norton |
