Alain Chaisse VP Human Resources - Fundy Communications
Fundy was a great place to work, but there were problems. It seemed that year after year, I had been getting passed up for promotions.
I had worked hard, gone the extra mile, but it seemed it just wasn't enough. What was happening here?
15 years of dragging a 50' Fiberglas ladder through the back woods was getting to me. The winters seemed to be getting longer and longer. I was near the end of my rope. I couldn't leave my job, but I wasn't sure how much longer I could hang on.
A friend at Fundy, suggested that maybe the problem wasn't me and that I should make a few calls over to HR.
It was a bit nerve racking, but I did it. I called Alain Chaisse and left a voicemail asking if I could have a meeting with him at his earliest convenience.
I never expected to hear back. I was shocked to get a call from him the same day. He told me to come right over and meet with him.
Alain listened as I explained the situation. The meeting went on for over an hour. He told that and me that my opportunity would come, my work hadn't gone unnoticed. I expressed my interest in bettering myself through schooling. He offered to help.
Within a month, I was attending university part time. The courses paid by Fundy and a loan was forwarded to me to help offset the cost of books and student fees.
This was my chance to prove myself. I didn't want to let him down. I achieved class scores in the high 90s.
I obtained the NMC position shortly after, but Alain had moved on to another company. I never got a chance to thank him. I doubt, he ever fully understood how much he turned things around for me.
To - Alain Chaisse, Thank you!!!! |
