*4. Mark from Marietta GA wanted to get his TNT based video card
working with RedHat Linux 5.2. According to the Redhat hardware
 compatibility list

rh52-hardware-intel-18.html#video-xfree86-sort-man)

the TNT is supported by the XF86_SVGA server, so we think Mark
might merely have a configuration problem. Redhat's default X
server configuration program is Xconfigurator. Try XF86Setup
instead. It's a little more powerful. (You'll have to log in as
root.) We mentioned two great Linux sites, Freshmeat
(http://www.freshmeat.net) is the first place you should go to
find Redhat compatible software and drivers. For more
information about the X window server, checkout
 (http://www.XFree86.org).

*5. All the Linux partitioning programs I know of barf at drives
bigger than 8.4 gigs (1024 cylinders).
Read RedHat's info on fdisk for more info (http://www.redhat.com/cgi-bin/support?solution&11-990500-
0495&100-925000000&14-0&15-0&25-0&3-partitioning&30-)
but we suggest putting all of Linux somewhere on the first
8 GB of the hard drive.

*6. If you're partitioning a large hard drive, don't use the
Linux partitoners, they're big disk impaired. And DOS FDISK has
severe limitations. We particularly like Partition Magic 4.0
from Powerquest. But if you don't want to spend any money, there
are two other choices. The Ranish Partition Manager is
 available at http://www.users.intercom.com/~ranish/part/
The folks who do the Mandrake Linux distribution are working on
an open source partitioner for Linux and Windows. We haven't
tried it, but they do good stuff.
 http://www.linux-mandrake.com/diskdrake/.

*7. Justin from New York wanted help getting his Voodoo3 card
working with Linux-Mandrake. All you need to do is get the
 Voodoo3 X Window server from
 http://glide.xxedgexx.com/3DfxRPMS_vb_glibc.html.
Follow the instructions and you should be playing
 Q3Test in no time.

*8. Tony from Tomball Texas needs to get his TNT2 card running
with RedHat 6. Can do, Tone. Download the tarball from nVidia (http://www.nvidia.com/Marketing/Products/Pages.nsf/
pages/linuxdownload),
untar it, then run the shell script to install. Make sure you
use XF86Setup or the like to reconfigure your X server. Use
the SVGA server. There's a pretty good FAQ at http://www.nvidia.com/Marketing/Products/Pages.nsf/pages/linuxfaq

*9. Micah from Alexandria, LA wanted to know how to mount his
parallel port drive in Linux. IDE drives mount with a trick.
Use the fourth partition of the Zip device, e.g.

mount -t vfat /dev/hdc4 /mnt/zip

Parallel port drives are seen as SCSI devices, e.g. sdc4.
To get them working read the mini HOWTO first at:

http://www.redhat.com/mirrors/LDP/HOWTO/mini/ZIP-Drive.html

Dave Campbell has written a kernel 2.0 mod
http://www.torque.net/~campbell/

Dave also has an excellent tutorial at
http://www.torque.net/~campbell/speed.html

The 2.2.x kernel supports it natively.
