Why isn't DOS recognizing my mouse?

Q: I need help with my MS-DOS mode: I am trying to install a game
that needs full DOS mode to run, and every time I try to run it,
it says our mouse is not installed.

A: You need a dual-boot machine, for starters. You can either use
System Commander <http://www.systemcommander.com/> or add an
older version of DOS as a boot option. The important part,
though, is to make sure autoexec.dos and config.dos specify your
CD-ROM and mouse drivers, so that DOS can find them.

Edit dosstart.bat in your Windows directory (or create one if it
doesn't exist) and add the mouse command to it. The command
will vary depending on the make and model of the mouse; for
 most Microsoft mice, it's C:/msinput/mouse.exe
