| Dear Parents, I apologize my website did not get updated until Wednesday night. I kept getting bounced off but it looks as though everything is working again. We have a field trip next week to Furman to see Suessical the Musical. Permission slips have already been sent home. Please return your child's as soon as possible. Our Thanksgiving feast will be held on Tuesday the 25th. In a change from my newsletter, our Pow-Wow will not be on Monday the 24th. It will be Tuesday the 25th at 2:00P.M. Parents are welcome to attend. We have changed the day because the fourth grade "Pilgrims" will now be joining our Pow-Wow. Information for costumes was sent home this past Monday. We need paper towel tubes (for rainmakers-Martinez) and coffee cans (for drums-Koehler). Please send any you have for both classes to use. We also need feathers for our headresses. Here's a look at the week ahead: Math: (pp.113-118 ) "Count Back to Subtract," "Use a Numberline to Subtract," "Draw a Picture to Subtract," and "Subtract to Compare." Phonics: The sound of /w/ spelled /w/, /hw/ spelled /wh/, and /er/ spelled /er/, /ir/, and /ur/. Our unit test will be Friday. Language Arts: We will finish working on classifying words into related groups,work on Learning Logs as a type of journaling, and review singular/plural nouns and also possessive nouns. Our unit test will be Friday. Reading: The class will finish reading from our big book "Things That Go." They will also read the mini books "A Lamb on a Limb"," Wendell's Pets" and "The Whiz," "Garden Sisters," "Whir and Stir" and "A Blur With Fur" in class. For Homework they will read "Laura Lamb," "Wes Gets Wet," Wilma's Cat," "Chandler Gets Under" and "Brenda the Bird" for homework. Religion: We will study chapter 9, "Mary Hears Some Wonderful News" (pp. 36-39). The test will be Friday. Spelling: There will only be a posttest this week on Thursday.
