Tami walked into the empty party hall. It was dark and seemingly deserted. She was confused. Her boyfriend Greg had told her to meet him there but he wasn't there. Suddenly, a dim light came on. Tami turned to see what was going on. She saw Greg standing in the doorway holding a single red rose. He walked over to her slowly and a smile spread across his face.
"You look beautiful." he said, handing her the rose.
"Thank you." she said, blushing slightly.
"I see you got here with no problem." he said
"Yeah. I'm a little confused as to what is going on though." she replied
"Today is a special day." he said
"It is?" she asked
"Yeah." he said
"Well, what is it? I'm drawing a blank." she said
"It's been one year since we met." he said
"Oh my God, you're right. I didn't think you would remember." she said
"Of course I do. It was the day that changed my life." he said
He wrapped her in his arms and kissed her gently. They pulled apart and she laid her head against his chest.
"I can't believe we've been dating for almost a year." she said
"I know. It feels like we've been together our whole lives." he said
"And then some." she added
"Yeah." he said
He pulled away and walked over to a small stereo. He turned it on and inserted a cd that was next to it. Tami looked at him curiously. She opened her mouth to ask him what was going on but she decided against it. She wanted to go with the surprise. He turned the song on and walked back over to her. She wrapped her arms around him and he placed his hands on her hips. As the music began, they started to sway along.
Tami sighed. She was so happy. Greg was such a great boyfriend and he obviously loved her very much. She couldn't get much luckier than that.
The song ended and they stood together still swaying to the nonexistant music. The moment was so magical neither wanted it to end. Finally, the magic had to end. They broke apart and Greg led Tami to a small table she didn't notice before. A single candle was in the middle of the table and there was a chair on either side. Greg pulled out Tami's chair and she sat down. He sat across from her and took her hand in his.
"Greg, this is so amazing." she said
"It's all for you. You deserve this and more." he replied
"I love you so much." she said
"I love you too. And I have something to ask you..." he said
"Okay..." she replied
He got up from the table and walked over to her. Once he was in front of her, he dropped to one knee. Tami's breath caught in her throat as he pulled out a small box. He opened it a there was a key inside. Tami let out a small squeal.
"What's wrong?" he asked
"Are you trying to kill me?" she shrieked
"What?" he asked
"I thought you were going to ask me to marry you!" she exclaimed
"Nooo. I mean, not no never, but not right now." he said
"Of course. Now, you were going to ask me something?" she said
"Tami, will you move in with me?" he asked
"Yes, yes I will Greg." she replied
He kissed her and she took the key excitedly.
"This is so awesome! Now your house will look decent." she said
"Okay, let's not go overboard with the redecorating ideas." he said
They ate a nice dinner and discussed decorating ideas for the rest of the night.
