JC Chasez listened to the song on the radio. He could understand where Usher was coming from. He thought of his ex-girlfriend Desiree Harris. They had broken up a while before but he still loved her and would love her until the day he died.
Desiree Harris sat in her car listening to the radio while she was stuck in traffic. She sang along with the song. She loved both Usher and Alicia Keys and the song always made her think of JC no matter what.
JC smiled. He was in fact the first guy Desiree ever kissed. He was seventeen and she was fifteen. He had just returned to Maryland after living in Florida for MMC. They were next door neighbors and extremely close friends. Desiree was sad when he left but they still kept contact. He replayed the first time they kissed in his mind.
Im so glad youre home Josh. she said
Yeah, so am I Des. How are things around here? he asked
Its okay I guess. Tyler Cory tried kissing me at Sarahs party last weekend but I wouldnt let him. she said
Why not? he questioned
Because Ive never kissed a boy before. she said somewhat sadly.
So, if you would have kissed him, he would have been the first boy you kissed. he said
I know but I couldnt do it. she said
Why? he asked
Because I want to practice on someone I guess. So I know I have it right. she said
If you want, Ill help you out. he said
Really? she asked
Sure. Were friends, no big deal. he replied
That day had changed everything between them. One innocent kiss led to a two year relationship. Now Desiree was a singer as well, making a name for herself in a place where JC was established. No matter how famous she became he still saw her as Desiree, the girl he loved.
He thought back to his younger days when Desiree was still around. He was so happy to be with her. Even though he was traveling around trying to get a record deal, he would be just as content sticking around and staying with her. She was his and his only; they were always together. Then he thought about the fact that she was seeing someone else. He was some guy who lived in their hometown and Desiree seemed to be happy with this guy but JC didnt see the same spark she had when she was with him. When they were together, she glowed. She rarely frowned and was always smiling. He didnt see that in her now. Even though toward the end of their relationship, they were constantly fighting about him never being around, she still had the glow. He hadnt seen her since she really hit the big time but he didnt have to. No matter what, she was always with him.
Desiree thought of JC again. She was so in love with him. People called it puppy love since she was only fifteen but she knew it was something deeper than that. She had never been in a serious relationship but with JC she just flowed into it so easily. To her it was the greatest thing that could have ever happened to her. She loved him more than anything else. She smiled in a dreamlike kind of way. It happened to her whenever she thought of JC. It never failed, she always dreamed of what if. She could hide it from other people but she couldnt hide it from herself. She still had some sort of feelings for him. She was dating a guy from back home named Jake but he wasnt Josh. No one could ever be JC in her life.
Desiree flashed back to right after JC kissed her for the first time. She remembered that night sitting her room and replaying the whole thing in her mind a million times as she was doing that very moment. She couldnt get over how gentle he was with her. His lips were slightly chapped but still soft. She touched her lips absentmindedly, reliving that point in her life. She knew back then that JC was the only person who could mean that much in her life. She had pictured them getting married and having the picture perfect life. Of course, things didnt play out that way. JC went off and joined *Nsync and became incredibly famous. She never blamed him for wanting to live out his dream but she wished it hadnt taken him away from her. She thought back to the happy times when she was his and he was hers and they were happy.
JC wondered what Desiree was doing. He missed her terribly sometimes. He was jealous of her boyfriend for having her when it was obvious that she still wanted him. He thought of the past and pushed it out of his mind. No matter what had happened they would still love each other. He wanted to see her just to see what would happen between them.
Desiree sighed. She wished she could go back in time to when she was with JC and things were happy. She would dream sometimes about what they would be doing now and how happy they would be. She sometimes felt it was getting harder to deny but she had to because she didnt know if JC would want to go back to that part of their lives. Then there was Jake. She loved him, but he wasnt JC and never could be.
JC debated on what he should do. He wanted to see Desiree and try to see if they could at least be friends again. He wouldnt push for a relationship since she was still with that guy but maybe it could happen at some point.
Desiree decided that she had to find some way to get in contact with JC and try to see what could happen between them. She loved Jake but she needed to see if there was still something there for her to hold on to.
