Justin Timberlake walked into the house to find his girlfriend Sa'iyda fast asleep on the couch with her lap top on the table. Next to the lap top were various text and notebooks as well as pencils and pens. He smiled and kissed her gently. She stirred a little before opening her eyes.
"Justin? How long have you been home?" she asked
"I just got in." he replied
"What time is it?" she asked
"Nine o'clock." he said
"No way. I laid down to take a quick nap and that was...two hours ago." she said rubbing her eyes.
"What are you writing?" he asked
"Research paper. I've been writing it since like five o'clock." she said
"No wonder you were tired. Have you eaten anything?" he asked
"I had a sandwich but that was like when I started writing." she said
"Put your shoes on and I'll take you out for pizza." he said
"But you just got in. I'm sure you want to relax. We can just order in." she said
"If that's what you want." he said
"Okay. I'll go get the menu...unless you know what you want." she said
"Just a plain pizza is fine." he said
"Okay, sounds good to me." she said
She went into the kitchen and ordered the pizza. When she was done, she walked over to the refrigerator and got out a Snapple and a bottle of soda. She poured a glass for Justin and carried that and her Snapple out into the living room. She sat next to him on the couch and handed him his drink.
"Thanks babe." he said kissing her.
"No problem. Thanks for waking me up." she replied
"I was tempted to let you sleep but I knew if you woke up you'd be pissed at me." he said
"You know me so well." she joked
Justin smiled. He really did know her very well. They had been dating for a little over a year and had been living together for six months. He knew from the day that they met that they would be together forever. When they met, Justin had just gotten out of a relationship and wasn't really looking for another one. Everytime he was with a girl, they would do something to burn him really badly. His last girlfriend was no different. She accused him of infedelity when in fact she was the one being unfaithful. But when he met Sa'iyda, he knew that she wasn't the type of girl he had known before. She had been burned as well and knew where he was coming from.
Sa'iyda fiddled with her lap top, trying to find music to listen to while they waited for the pizza. She clicked through a few playlists until she found something suitable.
"Who is this?" he asked
"Tim McGraw." she replied
Justin listened to the lyrics. It reminded him of how he felt about Sa'iyda. He did think of her as his best friend. She was the only one who could make him smile by doing absolutely nothing but sitting next to him on the couch. He didn't think it was possible to be in love with her more than he was already but sitting with her listening to the song made him love her more. He felt as if she could read his mind. He took her hand in his and squeezed it gently. She smiled.
"So, you never told me how your day was? How's recording coming along?" she asked
"It's coming along fairly well. I listened to some new stuff today so we'll see." he said
"That's good. I'm glad things are progressing so quickly." she said
"Thanks." he replied
None of his other girlfriends had taken such an interest in his career and how it was going. Everytime he went to the studio, she'd either try to come with him or ask him about it as soon as he got home. She didn't mind that sometimes she would have to play second to his career because with her, his happiness came before hers. When he had to deal with swarms of papparazzi and reporters bothering him, she would stand firmly next to him and brave the flashbulbs alongside him even though she didn't have to. He kissed her gently and she chose to deepen it. When they pulled away, he was somewhat breathless. She laughed.
"It never ceases to amaze me." she said
"What?" he asked
"The fact that you get breathless everytime we kiss. I thought it would wear off after the first few months." she said
"Does it bother you?" he asked
"No, I love it. It's good to know I still have that affect on you." she said
"You know you always will." he said
The pizza arrived and they sat on the couch eating it and listening to music. Justin looked at Sa'iyda when she wasn't looking. She was so beautiful and he was lucky to have her. After they ate dinner, they changed into their pajamas and laid on the couch to watch television. Justin held her tightly and she snuggled close to him.
"Did I ever tell you that you're my best friend?" he asked
"No, but I'm glad to know it." she said
"I've never felt the way I feel with you with any other girl." he said
"Really?" she asked
"No. No one understands me the way you do. None of my other girlfriends have ever made the type of sacrifices that you've made for me." he said
"I don't really consider them to be sacrifices. We're in this together for the long haul. I call them adjustments." she said
"And that's why I love you." he said
"I love you too." she replied
