"Happy birthday Shannon!" Rachel said bounding into the room bright and early on Shannon's birthday.
Shannon sat up and rubbed her eyes.
"Hey." She answered with a yawn.
"Get out of bed and get dressed!"
"Why did you make plans for me already?"
"No, not yet, but we'll think of something."
Shannon smiled at her soon to be sister-in-law.
"Alright. I'm up." Shannon hopped out of bed.
She changed into a pair of cute, tight blue jeans and a pink top. She put on white tennis shoes, brushed her hair, put on lipgloss and mascara, and finally got down to the last item. A shiny ID bracelet that her friend had give her.
Believe it or not, her special friend was Aaron Carter. They had met last year on their birthday and became friends. Over the year they kept in touch and had a couple of visits.
Shannon bounced down stairs and skitted to a stop.
"Ok, I'm ready!"
"Good! Let's get going."
"Ok, where are we going?"
Rachel paused.
"Uh, I'm not sure. You have any ideas?"
Shannon opened her mouth to answer when the door bell rang. Rachel went to answer it.
"Oh hello, yes, yes, she is here. No, no come on in..."
Shannon stood wondering who the person was. She waited a second and the person walked in.
"Um..." She looked at the figure in a baseball cap and sunglasses. "Hi?"
"Don't tell me you don't know who I am Shannon!"
"Aaron?'
"Yeah it's me." He answered taking his cap and glasses off. She ran to him and hugged him.
"Happy birthday sweetheart."
"Happy birthday Aaron." She smiled.
She pulled back and looked at him. Her heart fluttered slightly.
"So you wanna hang out?"
"Um..." Shannon hesitated. She looked over at Rachel.
"It's all good girl. You can hang with Aaron. Have fun and I'll catch you later girl."
Shannon watched Rachel leave then turned to Aaron.
"Wow, I didn't expect to see you. What are you doing down here anyway?"
"Well, I have the weekend off since it's my birthday and I asked my mom to let me come see you."
"Well thanks Aaron, it was a great surprise!"
"I'm glad to hear that."
"So, now what do you wanna do?"
Shannon became thoughtful. She had no idea what she wanted to do she was just thrilled that Aaron was there to see her.
"Whatever. Anything is ok with me." She answered with a smile.
Aaron smiled back and put his arms around her. She grinned nervously. Over the last year Aaron had become extremly good looking.
Aaron looked down at Shannon and his heartbeat sped up. He could not help himself. Over the last year, Shannon had become extremly beautiful and he had the sudden urge to kiss her. He blinked and pulled himself out of the trance.
"Hey Shannon, I know this great club where we can go tonight. Would you like that to celebrate?"
"I would love it." She answered giving him a huge grin.
"Great." He said taking her hand and they were off to the club.
They walked in and the club was hopping.
"I love this song!" Shannon yelled above the music pulling Aaron with her to the dance floor.
She and Aaron began to dance innocently but soon they were grinding into each other.
After a while Aaron pulled her over to the bar for a drink.
"What do you want?" He asked her.
"Oh, um water is just fine." She said with a smile.
He got two waters and led her outside.
"Shannon, I just wanted to tell you thank you. Thanks for agreeing to spend our birthday together." Aaron said looking into her eyes.
"Don't worry about it Aaron you are my best friend." Shannon said smiling.
Aaron felt his heart begin to flutter quickly.
"Shannon, I think I want to be more than friends." He whispered leaning closer.
As their lips met Shannon shivered. She could not believe she was kissing Aaron Carter. This was going to be a birthday to remember.
