| Russia: Tsar Alexander I Military: Max Army: 1,000,000 Standing Army at 1791: Infantry: 325,000 Quality--------6/10 Cavalry: 75,000 Quality--------7/10 Cannon: 200 Cannon of Various caliber Quality:-------8/10 Overall Quality: 6/10 Reasons: The bulk of the Russian infantry comes from its masses of serfs. These hardy, uneducated men suffered the often-horrific military conditions with stoicism. The officers arent much different from their men, prone to gambling and drinking. However, despite all this, the Russian army was a devote and courageous bunch, often suffering massive casualties and still coming out on top. The huge amount of cavalry comes out of necessity, being the huge plains of eastern Russia make it ideal for cavalry charges and harassment. Their sheer numbers makes up for the rawness of the troops. Navy: 6/10 The Russian navy is almost nonexistent. However, by 1791, interest in a Navy was growing. Peter the Great had started one, but it was practically forgotten after his death. By 1808, Russia would have 34 Ships-of-the-line in service. Economy: 6/10 |
