TIMELINE OF EVENTS
1042: The Pope was born in the province of Chatillon-sur-Marne as Odo de Lagery
Between 1042 and 1067: Received education at the school associated with the Reims cathedral, and he eventually became their canon and archdeacon
1067: Left for Abbey of Cluny
1070: Canonized
1074: Became the Grand Prior at Cluny
1078: Became Cardinal Bishop of Ostia and Pope Gregory's chief adviser
1084-85: Worked in Germany as a papal legate, attempting to preserve support for Pope Gregory
1088: Became Pope, but was in exile at the time, and so he continued to pursue the cause of reform
1094: Was able to enter Rome after a period of exile
1095: Urban�s travelled about, gathering great councils of the entire population in order to promote and gain recognition for the reforms he was working on.  One of the principal councils he held was at Piacenza at this time
1095: Delivered speech at Clermont Cathedral
1097: Another principal council was held in Rome
1098: A council was held in Bari
1099: His last principal council was held in Rome again
1099: Died, not hearing the news of the Christian victory
