The Hendrix siblings at a reunion in the 50's. From left to right, my grandmother Carrie, her brother Fred, sister Lilly, sister Effie, and sister Gerthie. Granny, Carrie, has light skin because she always bleached it. The little girl is me in the 50's. The boy is my brother Jack in the early 60s.
My family used the spelling Hendrix although there are other spellings on the Dawes roll.. For the other spellings go back to the Dawes Roll and look in H. Carries father was John Hendrix, mother may be Julie Ottman.

Carrie Hendrix married Dolphen Pittman, November 3, 1922 in Ware County, Georgia and they had one son William Dolphen Pittman. The name Pittman, before the civil war was spelled with one T or I found no Pittmans' living in that area or even the state after the war on any census. Looks like the Pitmans were big slave owners and for whatever reason, hopefully shame but probably because they were poor after the war and may have had legal problems, they changed their name to Pittman. I did find Carrie, Dolpen and baby William on the 1930 census as living in Ware county with Dolphens parents, Wes(Wesley) Pittman, 60 and new wife Lizzie 25 years old. William was listed as Dolpen W. age 5. This was District 11, 1930 census.
