President's Message
As new president I would like to thank Sue Kulp for the last two years of leadership. She did a great job as President of the club! I would like to let her know that all that she did was appreciated. Thanks Sue!

We also had a change in the Treasurer position. Steve Hein held that position for the last two years and he did a great job. Thanks Steve! Kathy Duvall has replaced him and I would like to thank her for taking the position.

Pete Kulp took my place as Vice-President and he is always looking for donations to his Fishing Fund.

Our Board of Directors also got an injection of new faces. Barb Keenen and Judy Hanson were added to the Board and Doug has one year left on his term. With the mix of new and old, the Board should have lots of good ideas.

I would like to invite all of our members to all of our meetings. We try to have our meetings in centrally located areas to make it easier for our members to come and join us. Your ideas are important to the running of this club. If you can't make it to a meeting but have something that you would like addressed, please feel to contact any of the Board of Directors or Officers.

Something to think about when you pay your 2002 dues. Do you know anyone who has Appaloosa horses that might like to join? Are there activities that you would help the club do that would attract new members? If you know someone who would like a newsletter, let us know.

Thank you to Barb Keenan for the membership donated in memory of her husband Bob.

That is all for this month. The weather has been so nice I hope everyone has been able to get as much riding in as possible.

Steph

2002 Dues are Due
Family: $25.00 / Single: $15.00

HORSE FAIR 2002:
Sue Kulp will be handling the booth this year. This is one place where I have consistently been asked, "Where do I find an Appaloosa stallion?" and "Who has foals for sale?". We have lots of people stop by every year just to see what is new in the state.
DIRECTORY:
Terri McCarty is putting together a directory. If you would like more information about it, please call her at 605-428-8638 or email her at [email protected].
YOUTH DIRECTOR:
Is anyone interested in serving as a Youth Director? Melissa Stewart was our last one but she is now married and living in California. Melissa always planned events for the youth at the POP horse show. But if someone was interested, they could provide activities outside of the show. We will also need someone to keep track of youth participation in open and 4-H shows.
TRAIL RIDE:
If we had known this weather would've been so nice, we would've rescheduled instead of canceling the trail ride this year. Anyone want to be responsible for it for the fall of 2002? We had some ideas for location plus the possibility of joining an existing trail ride. Anyone want to head this up??? Contact Stephanie.
2001 ANNUAL MEETING:
We had a nice turn out! Thank you to everyone who contributed to the White Elephant Auction and everyone who purchased something. We ended up raising $184 for the club. Thank you, Doug, for the good job of auctioning the items.
