LEAGUE OVERVIEW

The Colossal Football League, established in 2000, is a 12 team Internet based Fantasy Football League, based out of Jacksonville,FL with ownership ranging in location from Denmark to Hawaii.

League Structure

The Colossal Football League is, and will continue in the future to be made up of 12 teams. If, for whatever reason, an owner is unable to continue running a team in the CFL, then that owner's team will be dissolved, and a new owner will be admitted, and given a new "expansion" team to take their place.

League Fee $20.00

Beginning in 2005 we will implement a $20 fee for each team. All fees collected will go into one pot to be distrubuted to each owner according to their team's success. The following table describes how money will be earned:

League Champion $142
League runner-up $20
Each win $1

Once the season is completed, each owner will have the option of collecting their money earned or have their credit applied to the next season's fee. Each team's fee must be paid in full before any keepers can be announced. Any questions, please ask the Commissioner

Team Names

We have no affiliation to the NFL and official NFL team names will not be allowed. Try to avoid team names that may be offensive to other owners. We reserve the right to reject obscene names.

Team Abandonment

Any team that does not update their roster for a period of four weeks during the regular season or has not had contacted the league in this time period will be considered abandoned. If a team has been ruled as abandoned, the league commissioner will run the team for the remainder of the season. All efforts will be made by the league before announcing a team as abandoned. The franchise will then be dissolved at years end.

Draft And Draft Selections

The 2005 draft will be held live in our draft room on Saturday, August 20th at 6:00 PM EST. The draft will be 18 rounds long.

The time limit for the draft picks are as follows:
Rounds 1 - 18, 3 minutes
Preparation is the key to a good draft. Time limits will be observed.

Draft Procedures And Options

Draft choices for the current draft cannot be traded, however picks in future drafts can be traded. Players can be traded after the draft has been completed when the season starts with transactions.

Rosters will be locked after the initial draft until one week prior to the start of the season.

Draft Options For You

(1) DRAFT YOUR TEAM
Prepare your draft list and draft your own team in the live draft.
(2) SUBMIT YOUR DESIRED DRAFT ORDER
If you wish, you may submit a draft list for the commissioner to draft a team for you. Since you will know what pick you have in all the rounds, you will need to identify what position you want each round. EXAMPLE: Round 1 RB, Round 2 QB, Round 3 RB, and so on. Make sure to have picked at least 2 QB, 4 RB, 6 WR/TE, 2 K, 2 Def/ST, and 2 of any of the positions to meet the requirements of the roster. All lists must be E-mailed or mailed to the Commissioner prior to the live draft.

Standings And Updates

Standings will not be official until Tuesday each week. League updates will be posted real time for the 2005 season. It is important to remember that scoring is not official as the games are going on as sometimes updates are not always correct as official scoring may change as the games are evaluated by the official NFL scorers.

**Standings Tie-Breakers**

This is for the seeding in the playoffs spots (1 - 6).
A tie in standings will be decided by the following:
1. Overall Record
2. Head to Head Record (if more then 2 teams are tied, one team must have swept all the games played within the teams tied. If not, then this is not used)
3. Total Points
4. Coin Flip

Each team will play a 13 week game schedule each season. Each team will play every other team in the league once and two teams twice. The schedule will consist of 6 home games, 6 away games, and 1 neutral site game. The neutral sites games will take place during week 8 and there will be no 3 pt Home Field Advantages given.

Playoffs

The playoffs will consist of 6 teams. The top two teams in the final standings will receive a bye in the first week of the playoffs. During the first week of the playoffs the 3rd best team will host the sixth best team and the 4th best team will host the fifth best team. The winner of the 3/6 game will advance to meet the second best team in the semi-finals, and the winner of the 4/5 game will advance to meet the best team. The winner of those two games will advance to the BIG FAT BOWL, the CFL's Championship Game.

**Game Tie-Breakers**

A tie (excluding the BIG FAT BOWL) will be decided by the following: The total bench points including the alternate if he is not the starter. If the tie is still not broken, then it will be the highest starting QB's score. If not then, it will continue with the starting RB's, WR's, TE, K, Def, and then the same with the bench. If this does not settle it, a coin flip. Home team has heads.
Summary in order: Total Bench, Starting QB, RBS, WR'S, TE, K, DEF, the same with the bench, coin flip.

**BIG FAT BOWL Tie-Breakers**

The BIG FAT BOWL will be held in week 16. If there is a tie, the game will be played again in week 17 to decide the winner. If another tie occurs, the normal tie-breaker rules will be followed.

Keepers

The CFL is a semi-keeper league, meaning that in the off-season, each owner is allowed to retain 3 players from their previous season's roster. A maximum of 2 two more keepers can be retained if the owner successfully completes the Winsome/Losesome competition, which is detailed below.

Team Roster

Team rosters will be made up of 18 positions at all times. Each team roster will be required to have the following:

2 Quarterbacks
4 Running Backs
6 Receivers(Wide Recieivers or Tight Ends)
2 Place Kickers
2 Defense/Special Team Squads
2 Players at any position

This is what you will need to draft and have on your active roster at all times.

Starting Rosters

Your starting roster will be made up of 8 positions and may include one Alternate player (AP). If you are submitting an alternate player, you must identify the player that he is the alternate for. Your weekly starting roster to be turned in must include:

1 Quarterback
2 Running Backs
3 Receivers(Wide Recieivers or Tight Ends)
1 Kicker
1 Defense/Special Teams Squad
1 Alternate Player (optional)

This is the only starting roster that will be permitted.

1 AP (optional) Teams are allowed to name one alternate player for a position player. Each week you will need to post your alternate when you submit your lineup. You will enter your alternate player and identify the player you are alternating for in the Quotable: section below the lineup submission. When you submit your lineup you will need to fill this in prior to selecting the submit button.
Please review the alternate definition below for the correct usage.

Starting Roster Deadlines NO EXCEPTIONS

Starting rosters can be submitted Tuesday through Saturday Night at 11 PM EST each week. All starting rosters will lock at 11 PM EST and no further changes can be made to your lineup

Starting rosters for a Thursday Night game must be submitted prior to game time and cannot be changed once the game begins. Other roster players can still be changed on a starting roster until the 11:00 PM EST deadline on Saturday. This excludes any player that was on the Thursday Night NFL team and those players are now locked until Tuesday. Players assigned for the Thursday Night game cannot be changed. Any roster not updated by the due date and time will result in the previous week's roster. This includes any player that plays Thursday. The Integrity Rule applies for all games and weeks. The Integrity Rule is listed below.

Saturday Games
If you have any players in a Saturday game, your lineup must be submitted prior to the start of the game. Changes then can only be made on players not playing in the Saturday games up until the Starting Roster deadline.
To submit your lineup, you will go to your teams homepage by clicking on your teams helmet. You will then click on Lineups located in the top left hand corner were you will then be required to enter your teams ID to enter your lineup page. You will then click on the players you wish to start that week. To remove a player from your starting roster, simply click on that player and he will be removed. Remember you must include your alternate in the Quotable section if you wish to us an alternate for that week making sure you identify the player you are alternating for. All lineups can be looked at by going to the leagues homepage on the program and selecting Matchups.

Lineup Tip: You should update your lineup each Tuesday just to make sure you get your changes submitted for the following week. You never know what might happen and you can always update it again. Better to be safe then sorry.

**Alternate Player**

The Alternate Player (AP) is used to backup one of your starting players. When you submit your starting roster, you may add one alternate player from your bench. This alternate can only sub for one identified player. Make sure to identify which player he will be the alternate for. If you do not identify the player and position, the alternate will not count. The alternate can only be an alternate for the position that they are and not for another position. (example: a quarterback cannot sub for a wide receiver.) The alternate score will only be in effect if the positional player does not play. If your selected starting player is in the game for one snap of the ball, his points will count as the official score. The alternate player score would not count in this case. This rule was created to help the teams who have a questionable player prior to game time lineup deadlines.

To submit an alternate player, you will fill in the alternate players information below your lineup submission in the Quotable: section. This is a sample of how you need to input your alternate in the comments section under lineups:

Alt. E. Smith RB for J. Stewart RB
You can view a teams lineup by clicking on Matchups on your league programs homepage. You will see the teams lineup and under the owners name any alternates submitted will show up next to Quotable:

Alternates can only be submitted each week during the lineup submission period. Same deadlines apply for alternates and starting lineups.

**Integrity Rule**

The Colossal Football League is based on fun and fair play. The Integrity Rule has been created to keep it that way. The issue is bye weeks and season ending injuries. Bye weeks are part of the game, so be careful when drafting your team. Injuries are also a part of the game, but they are uncontrollable. The point here is that there is nothing worse than coming down the stretch and a team that has fallen out of the playoffs race does not update their lineup. This is not in the best interest of the game and will not be tolerated. The following rule will help to aid the teams that forget to submit a lineup on time, are away on vacation and cannot get a lineup in, or to help out a team owner that has lost interest in their team.

**Integrity Rule**
If a team does not submit, or submits a lineup containing a player (s) on a bye week, the League Commissioner will replace that player (s) with an active player in their place. The commissioner will try to review all lineups prior to game time to make the proper changes if necessary using his best judgment for player substitution. If the players are not updated between 11 PM Saturday night and game time Sunday, the player that will be replacing the bye week player will be the highest scoring player at that qualifying position on that teams bench based on the history not including the scoring of that week. This will be done by the commissioner before the results are posted on Tuesday. If you know you are playing a team that has players on a bye week, beware that they will be changed per this rule. The same will be done for a player that has experienced a season ending injury or is listed on the injured reserve list prior to the starting roster deadline on Saturday. Only a player listed on injured reserve will be substituted for, not injured players that are questionable. Injuries are part of the game and use of the alternate player allows a owner to cover a player that may be questionable going into a game. The integrity rule will keep the leagues more competitive and guard against teams from have incomplete rosters. Some teams may not have a player available at a position due to injury and or the bye week. In this case the spot cannot be changed by the league and the 0 score will count.
Teams must put their best foot forward and teams that put inactive players in their lineups will be warned by the commissioner. As long as the players are active players there will not be any questions. Have respect for your fellow owners and play to win each week.

Integrity Rule Summary:
Bye week and or Injured reserve starters will not be allowed in any starting roster unless they are the only player available for that position. There are four different lineup selections, so make sure your lineups are active. Lineups will only be changed if a team is in violation of the above rule. Injuries after the weekly deadline will not effect this rule and players would not be changed.

Injured Reserve (IR):

In order to place a player on the IR, he must be listed as doubtful or worse. You will only be allowed to have one player on the IR. Any IR player can be reactivated at any time. This does include the playoffs. A player that is on your IR list and plays for one snap of the ball must be reactivated the following week. If you reactivate a player from IR, you will need to drop another player from your roster. Make sure that you meet all the requirements for your roster. If the IR player is not reactivated, he will become a free agent. All IR moves will be posted on the leagues homepage in the transaction reports. A player can be put on IR from Tuesday at 9:00 AM EST until 10:00 PM EST on Friday. The same rules apply for IR moves that apply for transactions. Players will be picked up in the same way as the Free Agents. Please check out Transactions and Waiver Period for the pick up rules. IR moves can be made in the same time frame as transactions. The final day to put a player on IR is Friday of week 13 at 10:00 PM EST. A player on IR can be reactivated anytime. This does include the playoffs.

Winsome/Losesome

We will be rolling out the Winsome/Losesome competition again this season, and since it seemed to be such a task for everyone last season, it's be made a bit simpler. If can can pick an NFL team to win a game(without picking the same team twice) for twelve consecutive weeks, then you get an extra keeper for the following season. Additionally, if you can pick an NFL team to lose a game(without picking the same team twice), you get another keeper. So if you can manage to qualify for both the Winsome and the Losesome, then you will get a total of five keepers. Weekly picks should be e-mailed to the commissioner and will be posted before each weeks games.

Position Eligibility

Player position eligibility will be based on what position the player is listed as at http://www.nfl.com, the official web site of the NFL. The position a player is drafted or acquired from free agency, is the position he will remain for that season. If nfl.com lists a player at multiple positions, you can determine his permanent position when you draft or claim the player through a transaction. Once a player has been assigned to a position he must remain at that position for the remainder of the year. A player maybe reevaluated by the league after the completion of a season and be moved to another position if needed. Once a player is on a roster his position will not change even if he is released.

Special Teams & Defensive Teams

Are one in the same. It is possible that a individual player and a defensive team could both be awarded points for the same score. Successful 1 and 2 point conversions will be considered offensive scoring, not special teams.

Transactions

Dropping one player on your roster for another player not on a roster. Each team will have unlimited transactions per week but must always maintain the roster requirments.. Weekly transactions can be made from Tuesday at 3:00 AM EST until 10:00 PM EST Friday.

Transaction Period

The transaction period will begin 1 week prior to the season. Transactions can be done from Tuesday at 3:00 AM EST through the Friday of week 13 at 10:00 PM EST.
Weekly transactions can be done from 3:00 AM EST on Tuesday until 10:00 PM EST on Friday.

Tuesday at 3:00 AM EST until Thursday before 9:00 PM EST is the waiver period were it is worst to first. After waivers have been posed until Friday at 10:00 PM EST is first come first serve. No transactions will be allowed after this time each week.

All transaction requests are submitted through the CFL website..
To submit your transaction, you will go to your teams homepage by clicking on your teams helmet. You will then click on Add/Waive located in the top left hand corner were you will then be required to enter your teams ID to enter your add/drops page. You will then click on the free agent lists by position to make your selections. Just click on the player and then select add.

Pick-Up Rule

After the Draft prior to the regular season, transactions will be allowed the week prior to the season. Waivers will be used. If you have drafted wisely, you should not have to make any moves until after the season has started. The regular season transactions will run every week from Tuesday at 3:00 AM EST until Thursday before 9:00 PM EST. Any players wanted by two or more teams during this time frame will go to the team first in the waiver order. Once a team has selected a player, that team will become the lower seeded team in the waiver list. If you do not make a transaction in a week, your rank in the order can only get better. This means that the first ranked team will have the first opportunity to pick up a player. If they add a player, they will now drop to the 12th selection in the waiver order and everyone will move up one spot. If you add one player you will move to the bottom of the list in order of giving everyone else the opportunity to add a player. This will be the rule for all 12 teams each week during the transaction period. After waivers until Friday until and 10:00 PM EST pick ups will be first come first serve. If you add a player on Friday it must be done prior to 10:00 PM EST.

Waivers

A player must clear waivers before he can be picked up by another team. A player cannot be picked up in the same week that he was dropped. Waivers last from Tuesday at 3:00 AM EST time until Thursday at 9:00 PM EST. All players picked up in the waiver period will be posted that night. Players will be first come first serve after waivers until Friday at 10:00 PM EST. This will allow all teams the availability to sign a new player if they were not able to during waivers.

Trading

Trading one player on your roster for another player on an active roster. Teams can trade players weekly, Tuesday at 9:00 AM EST through Thursday at 9:00 PM EST.

Trading Period Weekly Tuesday 9 AM - Thursday 9 PM

Weekly trading can be made from Tuesday at 9:00 AM EST until Thursday at 9:00 PM EST.
To submit a trade, all trade requests must be E-mailed to the Commissioner. You must include your name, your team name, player (s) being traded, team name that you are trading with, and the player (s) being acquired. Trade confirmation must be sent in by all parties involved in the trade to have the commissioner submit it to the league for a vote. Rosters must be complete at all times and minimum positions requirements must be maintained.

**Trade Approval**

Trades will be submitted by the commissioner to the entire league for approval by e-mail. After a trade has been submitted to the commissioner, the trade will be sent to the entire league for a vote. Once a vote has been sent out to the league for a vote, the owners need to reply within 48 hours. In the case not enough votes are received, the commissioner will cast enough votes to approve or disapprove a trade. If a trade seems fair to you you should reply with a Yes Vote. If a trade seems to be to one-sided for one team, the owners should Vote No on the trade. All E-mail votes should be sent to the Commissioner. If six teams reject the proposal, the trade will be vetoed. If six teams vote to approve the trade will be passed. The commissioner will hold the right to cast up to two votes per trade. If there are not enough votes cast, the commissioner will cast enough to approve or disapprove the trade. The commissioner will not overturn any decision made by the league if there are at least 6 votes submitted as approved or disapproved. The commissioner may also include comments on the trade to the league prior to them voting on the deal. It is the responsibility of the commissioner to inform but not restrict trading. Each trade will be handled quickly. After the trade has been approved or disapproved, the Commissioner will E-mail the league with the results. If the trade is passed, the players are now available for your starting roster. During the regular season, any trades that are passed will be posted on the leagues homepage under Transactions. During free agency they will be sent to all by e-mail for confirmation. Trading draft choices during the season for the FA/Rookie drafts can be made as long as the teams involved are paid in full for that trade year. This does allow for future draft picks to be traded.

Trade voting will be decided within 3 days from when a trade is sent out for a vote by the commissioner. If after 3 days the votes are not all received to approve or disapprove a trade, the league commissioner will cast the remaining votes to approve or disapprove the trade. Trades do not have to be replied to all, only the commissioner. If a trade is turned down after the Thursday deadline, the teams would need to rework the deal and resubmit it the following week. If it is the final week of trading, the commissioner will allow the owner to submit a new proposal as long as it is prior to the lineup deadline on Saturday night.

**Protests**

Any owner having a protest, must file the protest with the Commissioner. The protest will be determined by the league rules and the Commissioner's judgment. If the Commissioner feels the protest is unclear, he will ask the league to vote on the issue. If the protest involves scoring, three forms of proof should be provided to support your claim. All protests must be submitted before the next week's games begin. Weekly Deadlines close Saturday night at 11:00 PM EST. No protests will be excepted after the close of the following week.

Rule Changes

Rule changes will only be made in one of two ways, either by a league vote, or by the discretion of the league commissioner if he feels it is in the best interest of the league. No changes can be made to league during the season, which officially begins with the August draft and ends with the BIG FAT BOWL. All rules changes will be made in the off-season and be announced prior to the beginning of the season.
