Oh. Poor Bessie *sob* Oh hello! Whats that, you say? You want to hear the story of Bessie the cow? Ok then, if you insist, but I must warn you it is a tragic tale. It all started when Bessie was just a calf. She loved to play in the fields and eat the grass. A few years later, Bessie was all grown up. She had a field to play in, grass to eat and a family who loved her. What more could a cow want in life? The farm was her oyster. OH, WHY DID IT ALL HAVE TO END?!?!?!? *Bursts out in tears* Im sorry *composes self* I will continue with my story. One night it started to rain, now, this wasnt just any rain. Oh no. The sky opened up and it poured, lightning crashed and banged (not to mention the thunder), and it was a terrible storm. Farmer Bob did not have time to get his cows into the barn. He was trapped inside the house!! He struggled to open the giant, oppressing, brown door. As soon as he managed to get outside, he TRIPPED ON A STEP and sprained his ankle!! The cows were trapped outside, and Farmer Bob was dragging himself along the cold, wet, bloody ground by his fingernails to get to the unsheltered cows. By the time he had dragged himself to the cow pen, he was feeling terrible. His fingers were raw, and his overalls *gasp* were ripped. It was a tragic day for all. But nothing could have prepared him for the horror that lay ahead... The COWS!! Oh, those poor poor cows! WHY?! I'm sorry...I just get carried sometimes when I think of the trauma that filled the pastures... A giant bolt of lightning then streaked the sky! It hit the centre of the herd! Not just literally, but metaphorically also. Luckily, none of the cows were dead. Yet. But they were horrifically frightened. You could even say that some cow's bladder's gave out. Others lost their udders. But poor dear Bessie...her kind, selfless, little heart could not take the lightning. At nine o'clock, on a Tuesday evening, in Digby, Nova Scotia, where her heart was best at home, Bessie the Cow was no more. The vet said it was from heart failure. It was a horrible loss. But remember, every gray (or even black...or maybe white) cloud has a silver lining. At least this one does. News of Bessie's passing was on every front page in Digby, and every radio station thereabouts as well. Somebody up (or rather, down) in Hollywood got wind of this epic, and phoned the McGregor, Bob farm, and asked for the rights to Bessie's life story. He wanted to write a musical *awed silence* for Broadway. Bessie was to be immortalized *awed silence* in Broadway.. Bessie was made into a musical known all over the land. Or at least Digby. And *awed silence* Broadway. The lead role (of Bessie) is played by Buttercup the Cow. In the original, Tiffany got that honoured role. The secondary character, Farmer Bob, was and is played by Leah. The lightning rod (oh that instrument of strength) was and is played by Anthony. The very first audience member was Cadence. This musical has grossed millions and made Farmer Bob a very wealthy man (the real Farmer Bob, that is). And to think...it all started...with a cow... Who gave birth to a cow...who gave birth to an udder (oh, I'm good)...who gave birth to a line of respectable, honest cows...the youngest of which...gave birth...to Bessie MOO. |
