Natural Lighting

 

Window areas (aggregate superficial area of glass) of a particular room shall not be less than 1/10th of the floor area of the room

   
 

Ventilation

 

Window areas not less than 1/16th of the floor area of the room shall be openable

 

The top of the openning of such window is at least 2m above floor

   
 

Prescribed windows

  Face into a street not less than 4.5 in width; or
  Open into unobstructed space above a retangular horizontal plan
  Satisfy the horizontal and inclined rectangular plan requirements
 

Windows do not prostrude beyond a plane inclined to 71.5 degree (76 degree for kitchen & offices) from horizontal

 

Windows do not prostrude beyond a plane inclined to 80.5 degree (83 degree for kitchen & offices) from horizontal for windows openned to an area bounded on the side opposite the window by boundary of the site

   
 

Minimum Height for Office and Domestic buildings :

  Floor to ceiling height - 2.5 m
  Floor to beam soffit height - 2.3 m
  For sloping ceiling - not less than 2.0 m
   
  Bay Windows
  May be excluded from GFA if satisfying :
 

One bay window for one room

 

Project not more than 500 mm from external wall

 

Not less than 500 mm from soffit of ceiling

 

Not less than 500 mm from finished floor level

 

2 adacent windows do not form one continuous projection

 

Barrier to be provided to a height of 1100 mm, otherwise within this dimension must be fixed
