Emotional Assailant
She stood above me
Above my broken
Battered form
A wicked smile played across her lips
I opened my eyes to look at her
But I could not see through the darkness
This impenetrable darkness enveloping my soul
I attempt to part my lips
To let cry a scream of agony
But they would not respond
All my strength had been spent
To battle her emotional onslaught
I have been so horribly weakened
That I can barely accomplish that
She continues the attack
For she alone knows
Where the chink in my emotional armour hides
We were in love
She knows me
Better even than I know myself
This she has proven
She is severing the ties
Erasing our years of love
She is my other half
Thus with her leaving
I will perish
She cuts the remaining bonds
And I fall into eternal darkness
With an anguished scream
I awake from my nightmare
I reach out
With desperate hands
I need to hold her
To forget the horrid nightmare
But I feel a cold
Empty bed
She is gone...
