| FINAL THOUGHTS I am shamelessly plagiarizing Joe here. Since there is no fantasy point total in yahoo NBA the way there is in NFL, there is no way for me to rank the picks the way Joe did, but I will regardless list here Dans Honorable and Upright Good (and Bad) Picks of the Draft In a Rough Order Determined by Nothing Besides My Own Opinion: (note, Im giving bonuses for people who got good centers in late rounds, because good centers are such a rarety) Best picks: Ricky Davis 101st pick - Joe Glenn Robinson 61st pick - Joe Troy Hudson 128th pick Me Gilbert Arenas 110th pick - Phil Desmond Mason 124th pick - Ade Michael Redd 125th pick - G Yao Ming 100th pick - Joe Grant Hill 77th pick - Ade Donyell Marshall 99th pick Arun Jason Richardson 67th pick - Jose Amare Stoudemire 104th pick - Ade Anfernee Hardaway 140th pick Joe Elton Brand 19th pick - Arun Richard Jefferson 81st pick - Joe Worst Picks: Mike Dunleavy 94th pick - Jose Michael Jordan 23rd pick - Bear Dikembe Mutombo 34th pick - Jose Elden Campbell 49th pick - Justin Damon Stoudamire 96th pick - G Antonio Davis 29th pick - Justin Vince Carter 20th pick - Joe Shane Battier 76th pick - G Shaquille Oneal 3rd pick Bear Chauncey Billups 64th pick Ade Wesley Person 70th pick Phil I predict the winner will be Phil. Of course everyone thinks I will win, and of course nobody stands a chance, but this way I'm hedging my bets, so if I win then I'm happy, and if Phil wins, I'm just good at predictions. If Ade wins, someone will pay...and pay dearly. Howard will rally late in the season because hell start paying attention, but it will be too little too late. Predictions for the season: I predict that by the end of the season Ade's entire team has been injured for at least one game, and some (like Grant Hill, Cassell and Mashburn) spend at least 20 games on the IL. I predict that bear will have 3 players who are in his starting lineup despite being on the Injured List, not on a team, or dead, or possibly some combination of the three. I predict that the Finals in the West will be between the Kings and Lakers, though Shaq and Peja will play sparing for the last 2 weeks because they'll get injured otherwise. I predict Vlade Divac will be retired after this year because of advanced alzheimers. The penultimate game of the finals will be won by the underdogs after the paid off referees make 12 consecutive calls in favor of one team to take the series to game 7. I predict that the Pacers will beat out the Nets in the East and get killed by whomever they play in the NBA Finals. Jesus will win the dunk contest. Antoine Walker will shoot 1-14 at some point, and half of them will be three point attempts. Shawn Bradley will get broken in half trying to defend Shaq, who outweighs Bradley by about 100 pounds. I predict the NBA MVP will be Jason Kidd, and the Defensive Player of the Year will be Ben Wallace after several teams refuse to go inside the three point line for fear of getting their ass kicked. The 6th man will be Desmond Mason, unless Michael Redd or Bobby Jackson do great off the bench. The Rookie of the Year will be Caron Butler (Yao Ming will be prevented from playing games when he is mistaken for another 7'7 asian man and incarcerated indefinitely by the federal government as a spy, Dajuan Wagner will get benched for most of the season because the Cavs have decided to get Lebron James even if they have to go winless this season, Jay Will will lose three consecutive games because of his pathetic free throw shooting and be dropped from the running, Marko Jaric will lose one of his legs in a bizarre turn of events involving the sport of curling and a bottle of shampoo, Nene Hilario will be accidentally deported to Zimbabwe, Amare Stoudemire will get killed when Shaq trips and falls on him breaking every bone in his body and turning every major organ into a viscuous jelly, Drew Gooden will end up in a rotation of 12 men through the two forward spots leaving him 5 minutes a game, and Carlos Boozer will be expelled from the league for being so ugly) |
