Justin lazily turned to Lance, a confident smirk on his face.

"Well, well, well, what do we owe the honor of this little outburst?" he sarcastically asked.
Lance clenched his jaw, his fist itching to connect with Justin's smart-ass mouth.

"I overheard your arrangement with Stacey", Lance snapped. Justin laughed.

"Oh, that. How much did you hear?" he questioned.

"All of it. How could you do that?! I thought we were friends!" Lance exclaimed. Justin
shrugged.

"I thought we were friends too. That is, until you chose that bitch over us", Justin
scornfully explained, referring to himself and the rest of the popular crowd.

Lance had never felt more shocked or angry in his entire life as he did this moment. He
had thought Justin was a true friend; someone he could count on. Now all he could count
on Justin to do was ruin his life. It was weird to know that the guy he had known since he
was walking around in diapers had now changed into a complete stranger. A tense silence
washed over the former friends, waiting for the other to throw the first punch.

"Leave the drama for the movies, Timberfake. You're an asshole of a friend and an even
bigger asshole of a person. And that gorgeous, amazing girl you call a bitch is my
girlfriend", Lance replied, his voice colder than an iceberg in Antarctica.

Justin rolled his ocean-colored eyes.

"Yeah, amazingly psychotic. And besides, you be your everything", he began, quoting the
last to words with his fingers, "But to everyone that matters, she's a nobody. No one but
you and her freakish friends are gonna vote for her! So why don't you just hand over your
keys now and we'll call it quits, ok Goldy Locks?" Justin smoothly demanded.

Lance shook his head.

"Hell no. And aren't you forgetting something, I'm the most popular guy in school. So,
naturally, everyone will go along with me. Just because you're high up in the social
pedestal doesn't mean you have all the power that I do", Lance malignantly pointed out.

Justin narrowed his eyes.

"I may not be you, but despite the fact you dumped her, Amber is still the hottest and most
popular girl in school. Which means she's going to win homecoming queen; hands down.
C'mon, get real Lance. This isn't 'She's All That'; Amber is going to win and Raven is
going to lose while I sit back and laugh", Justin cooly answered.

Lance smirked.

"We'll see who has the last laugh." With that said, he stormed past Justin and to his next
class.

*~*~*~*~*

At ease, Raven sat next to Kerry, waiting for their french teacher, Mademoiselle Craft to
arrive. She was always fifteen minutes later, due to the facts that A) she was also one of
the gym teachers and B)the gym was on the other side of the school. Therefore, even
running down the hall wouldn't make her any earlier. Raven chatted to Kerry while
finishing up the chapter review questions they had been assigned last night, totally
unaware of what was going on behind her.

The preppy group, Amber, Adrienne and Amy, another popular, walking Barbie doll,
seized this opportunity to paint their nails while having a juicy gossip fest. The topic of the
day, no surprise, was Raven's nomination.

Amber stared at the back of Raven's swishy, chestnut hair, her eyes shooting out daggers.
Her bottle of 'Red Rage' nail polish was untouched and unopened.

"Ugh, can you like, believe that loser actually, like got nominated?" she snapped, turning
to face her friends. The site of Raven almost made her sick enough to hurl.

Adrienne shook her head, pausing from painting her nails a day-glow green to glance at
Raven.

"Ew no! I mean, look at her! If there were such thing as like, the fashion police, as soon as
she had been born, that like, girl would have been put behind bars for like, life!" she
disgustedly exclaimed. They all cackled with delight at the thought of Raven in jail.

"But girls, like, what happens if she wins?" Amy timidly asked, hoping no one would put
her in exile for even hypothetically asking the question. Adrienne and Amber were silent
for a moment. Then, Amber gave a wicked grin.

"Not if I can help it." She got up from her desk, hands on hips and strutted up the aisle,
swinging her hips from side to side, believing she was a model on the runway. Her two
henchman, or better yet, henchwomen trailed behind her, copying and pasting on Amber's
evil sneer.

Amber stopped in front of Raven's desk, staring at her with a piercing gaze that could
have burnt metal. But Raven either didn't seem to notice or seem to care, because she kept
on talking to Kerry.

"Ahem", Amber loudly interrupted, already annoyed by Raven before she had even spoke.
Raven cut her conversation short and slowly locked eyes with Amber.

"Oh. It's you", she replied dully. Amber cast Raven a horrifyingly sweet smile that would
have given anyone else nightmare's for a month.

"I heard about your nomination, Crow", Amber declared. Adrienne and Amy snickered at
Amber's new nickname for Raven. Raven rolled her eyes and shrugged.

"Yeah, so?"

Amber narrowed her eyes, the smile falling to the ground faster than a hot pop tart on a
cold kitchen floor. She was sick of Raven's I-don't-care-how-popular-you-are attitude.

"Listen up, you little wench. I don't know who you think you are, getting one of your little
weirdo friends to nominate you but just so you know, you don't stand a chance. You're
going to lose even before start campaigning", Amber hissed.

Raven glared up at her arch enemy, somewhat scared; not by her words but by her
expression. She looked like a cat that had been dunked under scalding hot water.
Everyone knew what happened when a cat got angry; they brought out their claws.

But as the moment of silence grew, a renewed sense of pride and self-confidence rained
down upon Raven.

{I don't have to take this shit. Hell, I may not be Amber and I'm no Cindy Crawford but
I'm human. And I don't deserve this. No one does}, she thought.

"No, YOU listen up, Amber", Raven snapped, spitting out Amber's name like it was a foul
taste in her mouth. Amber arched a perfectly plucked-eyebrow and Adrienne and Amy
gazed back and forth between the two girls like it was a tennis match.

"You may think you're all that but I have a shock for you; fake boobs and perfect teeth
don't mean you're even a half decent person. You may think you're at the top of the world
right now but once people get a load of the fake you are, I'll be the one with the crown on
my head", Raven sourly continued.

Amber laughed, an awful laugh that was a cross between the screeches of a dying cat and
the wicked witch of the west from the Wizard of Oz. Raven did everything in her power to
keep from covering her ears and running out of the room.

"Look girls, the Crow actually believes she can beat me! What a joke", Amber announced
in between cackles. Adrienne and Amy gave off high-pitched laughs.

"That's right, I don't believe, I KNOW I can beat you", Raven sweetly replied. Amber
snorted and rolled her sky blue eyes.

"Fat chance. I'm popular, and you're an anti-social freak, remember?" she icily asked.
Raven let the insult roll off her back and she gave Amber a sugar-sweet smile.

"But I'm the one dating Lance, remember?"

Amber was silent, her mouth clamping shut.

"Yeah, well-you-I-"

"What's that Amber, I can't understand you", Raven coaxed. Kerry covered her mouth
with her hand and choked back a laugh.

"Ugh. I don't have, like time for this. Let's go girls", Amber declared, trying to cover up
her embarrassment. Adrienne and Amy threw Raven their nastiest glares and then turned
on their heel, leading the way back to their seats.

As soon as they had sat down, Raven and Kerry burst out into hysterical laughter. The
kind of laughter that makes your sides ache and feel like they're about to spilt down the
middle but you just can't stop.

"Oh my freakin God, that was priceless, Rave! Did you see her face her when you
mentioned Lance?" Kerry reminisced, tears falling down her cheeks.

Raven nodded, gasping for breath.

"Yeah! And did you see the way her little worshipers tried to give me a dirty look? It was
the most pathetic thing I've seen all year!" Raven exclaimed.

After they had finally managed to control their laughter to a few random giggles, Raven
grinned.

"What?" Kerry asked.

"I just can't wait to see her face when I win homecoming queen." Kerry's eyes widened.

"Wait a minute, I thought you weren't even going to the dance?" she asked.

"No, I'm going to the dance. I'm going to buy the hottest little dress I can find, show up
with Lance and flaunt the crown in that little airhead's face. I'm going to have the time of
my life", Raven wickedly  answered. Kerry laughed.

"Well in that case, I'm going to the dance too. I'd be a fool to miss high quality
entertainment like this", she responded. Raven nodded, grinning even wider at the thought
of Amber in tears.

"Amber Anderson is going down."
