Remember those days when telephone poles had those nice sturdy iron foot rests and you could climb way up? If you were lucky, the pole was close enough to a garage so that you could climb off and walk along the top of the garage.
Remember when fences were wire attached to 2 x 4's? If you were lucky, you could walk for half a block on the top rail or until a homeowner shagged you off.
Remember "I dare you," and "I double dare you?" If you were lucky, you didn't break a leg when you jumped from a second-story window or from a hay mow onto the barn floor.
Remember soaking your bare feet in a bucket of ice water? If you were lucky, you didn't fall down when you tried to walk on those numb feet.
Remember playing "Hide And Go Seek?" If you were lucky, the kid who was "It" never did catch on to the fact that everybody went home and left him 'seeking.'
Remember cutting 'windows' in a shoe box, attaching a string, and putting a candle inside? If you were lucky your shoe box didn't catch on fire as you and your friends made a parade down the street in the dark.
I wonder what today's kids will remember.
