POOCH SAYS

I'VE READ THAT . . . . .

....if you put 17 people together in a room, there is a 50/50 chance that 2 of them will have the same birthdate.

What kind of odds are those? The outcome of such a collection of people would be that such a motley crew would or would not have any coincidental matching birthdates. Is that a 50% true statement or not?

....right-handed people put on their left sock and left shoe first when dressing.

I dare you not to notice that the next time you are dressing. But, really, would it make any difference unless you were a conjoined twin?

Just make sure your socks match and let it go at that.

....fingernails grow 4 times faster than toe nails.

That makes sense to me. People who bite their fingernails need a quicker tension reliever than toe nails would provide. Besides, I seriously doubt whether any person over age 6 could even make toes and teeth connect!

....men are 6 times more likely to be struck by lightning than are women.

Now what does that tell you? Simply put, many men are not smart enough to come in out of the rain, especially if they are golfers holding a piece of metal!

It may also be the Almighty responding to "May I be struck by lightning if I'm not telling the truth."

....The Center for Disease Control says that an average of 13 cases of bubonic plague are reported yearly in the U.S. and 14% of those cases are fatal.

Golly, gee. Let's all stop worrying because 1.82 people will succumb yearly. Out of even a 300,000,000 population will it be our fate to get infected? Nah, lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, and whatever else is in the produce aisle - not to mention hamburger - will prove fatal. (I'm omitting a picture of a bubulo in case it's near meal time for you all.)

....There is enough brick in the Great Pyramid at Giza to build a wall 10' high x 1' thick around the complete border of France.

I say "Go for it!" I've been irritated once too often by the French and I didn't intend to return, anyway!

Statistics can be made to prove anything. Can you refute that statement with facts to back you up? I thought not! Anyway, count your blessings and multiply by 10 for the blessings you've forgotten about or didn't recognize when you had them.
