POOCH SAYS

"CONVENIENCE????"

"Pooch's pooch has such an entertaining life watching humans that she gets her" Personal Secretary" to write stories for her."

The automobile has freed us from our homes and all sorts of businesses have taken advantage of our mobility during our normal, every-day life.

Take the car wash, for example. How nice to be enclosed in a metal container while Niagara Falls plummets you! Try not to think of the friend who somehow managed to drive off the tracks and had to have a tow truck rescue her car! And don't panic. Yes, you DID close all the windows, put down your antenna, and turn your rear view windows inward. But please leave the family dog at home. He will have a nervous breakdown trying to bite at the suds, the brushes, or those rubber strips.

The ATM machine is marvelous! Never mind that they are made for people with LONG arms. You really don't mind unbuckling your seat belt, putting down the window, and leaning half way out the door to punch the buttons. Hang on tightly to the money as it pops out because a weak grip in a strong wind will scatter your largesse to strangers!

Fast food drive-thru's are another thing altogether. You might as well have gone inside if you get behind a car with people who can't make their minds, if people want special orders, or the restaurant is momentarily out of something.

However, as soon as your turn at the window comes, pray that you can understand the clerk taking your order! Pray that you don't discover you have the wrong thing in your sack until you have pulled away and try not to drop your change on the ground. It's so embarrassing to ask the people behind you not to move up while you move your car to collect coins!

Good Will Industries collects unwanted clothing and household articles at their drop-off boxes. They even have a drop off window about the size of a card table in the shed. But the window is at a level with the roof of a car. Besides, what you are donating is in the trunk or back seat. So much for that window!

The drive-thru window at the bank is really great. Just wait for the lane with a real person behind a window and hope that the person ahead of you isn't making out a deposit slip, depositing the day's receipts from a business, or waiting for the teller to find a dog treat for Fido. Be wary of the lanes where you put your 'stuff' in a pneumatic tube. Those things have been known to get stuck!

I wouldnt give up the convenience of my car for any thing.
