" THE PLEASURE OF ALWAYS BEING RIGHT
"
The sweetest words to hear? "I love you. The most comforting words to utter? I told you so!
Aside from being infallible in matters of the human condition, I also excel in other areas. (But Im very modest.) Take the stock market, for example. Common thought is to buy low, sell high. Reverse thinking can lead to savings. Buy high, sell low and you can take the loss from your income tax return! Is this not clever?
You're going to buy THAT? I could tell you horror stories about THAT idea, but I'd rather wait until you find that you've bought a lemon, shabby merchandise, or paid much too much. Then I'll tell you where you went wrong.
The annual what-to-buy problem for birthdays or holidays is no problem. You give cash. No checks and no gift cards. Checks have to be cashed and gift cards can be for a store where the recipient doesn't care to shop. $$$, greenbacks, moolay, folding stuff is the perfect color if not always the hoped-for size!
I have my snow blower serviced in the summer. My neighbors who wait until the first snow to find out that their blowers need repair are to be pitied. I erase the smug smile from my face as I merrily clear my driveway! (Let them eat cake if they cant get out to the grocery store.)
I make it a point to pay for a full year of service so if a company raises rates, Im protected. My garbage collector raised rates for the last quarter in 2004. My 2005 bill included a $1.60 late fee for 2004 and they had the nerve to add on $1.00 finance charge for non-payment! Did I stand idly by and meekly fork over that $2.60? You bet your sweet patootie that I didnt! Because I was RIGHT!
I experimented long ago by removing the contents of sleeping pill capsules and substituting sugar. The doctor was furious and asked where I got my license to practice medicine. But I was RIGHT! Placebo worked just as well. So much for medical school.
I do believe I may irritate other drivers occasionally, but at a 4-way stop, the car to the right has the right-of-way. I insist on being afforded my right to be right.
Am I right in thinking Im a bit self-righteous? Youre right!
