Issue No. 2 October 2005
At September meeting we had a great turn out. We had 14 members there. It was great to see everyone that came to the meeting. Now getting to the minutes. I am rough drafting it from Gary�s notes because I could not take them. Though I would make that comment. We discussed the two meter repeater and not really any progress on that at this time.
We also discussed on talking to the Chickasaw Nation about getting a site for the repeater once we get one established. Geneva is supposed to talk to Kennedy Brown about the repeater location site. It was also brought to our attention that we need the crystals and we would have a complete repeater set-up.
One of the members brought up that Ed had a 440 repeater set-up and we are going to contact him about that. He also has the crystals for it. Tom Gilliam has the 440 frequency. We also noticed that we needed an antenna for the repeater as well.
George is going to talk to Gary out at the hospital about the use of there tower that they have out there.
Gary and Geneva gave us an update on the radios that we ordered. They have been ordered and we got everything that we need besides the coax for them.
Geneva also discussed with us about Gary going to Baton Rouge to help down there in the hurricane Katrina aftermath. As he was down there, the Red Cross was busy helping people here that came from Lousiana. Geneva said that we have helped a lot of people and that we even helped by radio to contact a few that were missing. Geneva also asked for a list of association members with there phone numbers where they could be reached if she needed them for communications. Christina and Marie are putting that list together with email addresses.
We noted that the next hamfest that was coming up was Belton Texas and Texhoma.
Hello members, I thought I would put in a few announcements that have come up on the nets or through email.The first thing I would like to say of good news is that the association has gotten confirmation that we are now an affiliated with ARRL. John-WB5SYT, emailed wanting to know if the association would like to accept the certificate at the Texoma Ham-fest, I put out the email to everyone to get there input on if they would like to go and except it there. I have invited John to the Charter Party and that he thinks it is a great idea and that he is checking he�s calendar to see if he is available to be there or not. Just a few reminders that I think we all need to be thinking of are the election committee. It is now October and we start the asking and seeing who wants to be on the committee and who wants to run for office in November and we vote in December and we take office in January. I am working on the association webpage that we all voted on a few months ago. I had to get the site now that I got that I am putting one together. It should be up and running by the meeting. If you have anything you would like to add or see on the webpage please email me and me know and I will put it on there.
