GINGER BARS
1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup water
1/2 cup molasses
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. salt
confectioner's sugar, optional
In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar.  Add eggs and beat well.  Beat in water and molasses.  Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and salt.  Add to molasses mixture and mix well.  Spread into a greased 15x10x1-in. baking pan.  Bake at 350 for 20-22 minutes or until bars test done.  Dust with confectioner's sugar if desired.
