| In a saucepan, bring shortening, butter, water, and cocoa to a boil. Pour over flour mixture while still hot. Add milk, eggs, soda and vanilla. Stir well. Bake in a greased 13 x 9-inch pan at 350 for 40 minutes. | ||||

| Bring butter, cocoa and milk to a boil. Add sugar and vanilla. Spread over cake while both are hot. Cool completely before cutting. | ||||
