FAVORITE CHOCOLATE COOKIES
Yields 4-1/2 dozen
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1-1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
2/3 cup baking cocoa
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 pkg. (12. oz.) vanilla or white chips
1/2 cup chopped pecans, optional
In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar.  Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after addition.  Beat in vanilla. Combine the flour, cooca, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture.  Stir in chips and pecans if desired.  Drop by tablespoonfuls 2-in. apart onto ungreased baking sheets.  Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes or until set.  Remove to wire racks to cool.
