Rippin' the guts out!

When I bought the car, I knew the transmission had been rebuilt, but the engine looked, well, original. I had actually bought this car with the intent of pulling the 440/727 and dropping them into a B or E body. But since I didn't find one by the time I finished, I decided to put it back in the New Yorker, and I'm kinda glad I did. Now the dang thing is turning into a wanna-be cop car.
It's got cop wheels, cop exhausts, cop.. well, here's how it began...

At first we tried pulling really hard, but we ended up just having to rent a hoist...

Ahh, the engine is out. Now we're off to McDonald's, Flintstone-style!

Here, my buddy John and I (AKA: The Gasket Brothers) are respectfully mourning the death of a fine $400 automobile.

And there it is after I'd pulled it apart, cleaned it up, installed new stuff, and put it back together. Sorry, no apart pics, but this thing was in great shape. I did all the work myself from cleaning, to the 3-angle valve job, to torquing bolts back down. The one thing I did not do myself was polish the forged steel crank.
The motor did not need to be bored or otherwise over/undersized in any way. In no cylinder was there more than .002" Taper. You can't tell me that 440's don't kick ass!!! I installed the dual snorkle air cleaner, C-body HP Exhaust manifolds, a 284/.484 MP cam, new rings, bearings, etc... a MP windage tray, HV oil pump, Carter street/strip fuel pump and Aluminum H2O pump. Exhaust exits through dual 2.5" pipe and Turbo Mufflers. I will have a WAV file of it eventually, so stay tuned!

Along the way:
I put on Cop wheels in the rear with 255/60/15" BFG's, and have 4 more cop wheels waiting for me to buy tires for them so I can complete the look.
I've got proper fender skirts for the car, as well as an original 8-track AM thumbwheel radio I intend to install.
I spraypainted the roof white. The Krylon touch... yeah, it's nasty, but looks a lot better than flaking green paint to red primer.
I replaced that dented driver's front fender with one from a 68 Newport. I have the trim to go on this as soon as I am motivated enough. Some people want me to get the car painted as is. It's still got dents in 3 of 4 quarter panels, but they aren't that bad :-)
I installed a spare fuse block and a set of aviation switches (yo, I don't got hydroz) that is being used to run the Light Bar as seen on the previous page, that I picked up from my buddy Tom, who is part of the UCSB SPORTS CAR CLUB

FUTURE PLANS!
Well, it's almost to where I want it for cruisin' but I still need to replace that 2.76 open diff with my 3.23 Sure Grip I have waiting for it which I purchased from [email protected].
I'm also looking into getting GREEN plastic covers made for the light bar, as the blue and red for one are illegal, and are missing anyway. (not like driving with a light bar on your roof isn't anyway!!! No, I don't drive with it up there!)
