Ponmile Oloyede
Welcome !

"The saddest aspect of life nowadays is that Science gathers knowledge quicker than Society gathers wisdom!"

This is the home page of 'Ponmile Oloyede. I was born in the 70's to Nigerian parents in Lagos, Nigeria. I started grade school rather early,at four, due to a fortunate twist of event that prevented me from starting off in a kindergaten class. I enjoyed school even when I was by far the youngest dude in class and savoured the confidence that came from the knowledge that my teacher was a family friend. A year later at barely age five, I was sent off to my hometown in Abeokuta, Nigeria, about 100 miles away from home to continue schooling in a boarding home. And ever since, my entire educational career has been marked with never-ending periods of distant relationship with my immediate family, a situation which has made me learn to be independent- not exactly by choice.

I later attended the Abeokuta Grammar School where I had a tremendously exciting six-year span of my life. Innocent childhood pranks, courting troubles from bigger contemproraries by washing my running mouth off them, picking up swollen lips and finding a good lie to hide it away, poaching school shirts only to furtively return it after the owner had given it up for lost. Everyday brought with it its entirely different experience and lessons. I graduated out of this forge, a bubbling young man with the conviction that our trajectory in life mattered less on looks or riches and that if all men were constrained to live under conditions that are uninfluencable, one human is not so much better than another to make their cohabitation impossible.

In 1995, I entered the University of Lagos, Nigeria to study Chemical Engineering and graduated in 1999. I am presently a Theoretical Chemical Physics Ph.D student at the Institute for Molecular Science,Okazaki, Japan. My Research interests include Reaction Dynamics, Multi-dimensional Tunneling and Semiclassical Mechanics.[See Research Page]. I also enjoy writing, reading and acting. Other extra-curricular interests include learning languages and I also dabble into the study of Comparative Religion. I hope you have a nice time at my site.Thank you!
