                     ABOUT ME
I have been writing on beauty and health for over two decades for the Shahnaz Husain Group. I have  a special interest in Ayurveda, the ancient Indian holistic system of herbal healing. I have researched extensively on cosmetic-care  techniques for regular columns in newspapers, magazines, content for websites, as well as three books on beauty. Awareness and information have put beauty within easy reach. I believe that every woman can be BEAUTIFUL!
A truly attractive woman has more than just physical appeal. She has that something special that is actually a subtle blend of many attributes.. good grooming, good taste, poise, flair, grace, elegance, individuality and physical fitness. She has a style that is all her own, that tells the world that she is indeed a very special person.

I do lay particular emphasis on individuality. Somehow, many of us do not feel comfortable unless we look like everybody else around us. The pressure to conform exists all the time, through advertisements and magazines. But, following current trends, without imagination and creativity, can make you look like a product from a factory.  Some women find it safe to conform. I think one can create one's own brand of attractiveness that is subtle and elusive, with a kind of anonymous quality that is difficult to pinpoint.

The mark of a woman who is special is a vitality that comes from sheer good health. The adage, internal health for external beauty is old, but true. With a high level of physical fitness, there are few beauty problems. You will be better equipped to deal with your day to day life. On the other hand, fatigue, listlessness, nagging aches and pains take all the joy out of living and show up on the skin, face and eyes. In order to stay fit, the body needs regular care, by way of a nutritious diet, daily exercise, physical and mental relaxation and adequate sleep. The other qualities that contribute to the external appearance are a flawless skin, lustrous hair and a slim, supple figure. These are the outcome of regular care and using products that are suited to individual needs. We are living at a time when so much information is available on beauty and body care.

I think good taste is the foundation of grooming. All of us have taste, but it needs to be used and developed. The woman with greater sensitivity to her surroundings, to colours, forms and lines, is one who learns to exercise good taste. It is possible to increase this sensitivity when your eyes and mind respond to one another, whenever you see colours and fashions around you, or in magazines and books. It is a matter of visually selecting some things and rejecting others. When you choose clothes, make-up and accessories, it is this process which should work. It is also necessary to relate what you see to yourself, to your likes and dislikes, your plus and minus points. Poise is a quality that helps you to feel comfortable in any situation. This again comes from having greater sensitivity to people around you and by being aware of others as individuals. It gives you the knowledge of the right way to act and the right things to say. But, first you must be at ease with yourself. It allows you to be in control. Poise is what gives you the ability to handle any situation with dignity and grace, in a way that makes others also feel comfortable. In fact, it is the way others respond to you that makes you special.

Most of us seem to be trapped by the stresses and strains and even the monotony of everyday life. But, the special woman is much more aware of life and sees the plus points. She has a sense of joy in life and living, because of her positive attitude. Her secret lies in keeping an open mind, so that she keeps learning new things and keeps developing her personality. This helps her to accept change and actually look forward to challenges. There must be challenges in life, for they have a refreshing and renewing effect. They also help us to strive for newer levels yes, everything is within reach of the special woman.
Care of Dry Skin:
Does your skin have a fine texture and pores are not visible? Is there a taut feeling immediately after washing the face? Does your skin flake and chap easily? If the answer is Yes, you have a dry skin. It also means that your skin is vulnerable to early aging. So, take regular care of it.

Cleanse your skin with a cleansing cream twice a day. Cleansing of the skin at night is very important. Go easy on soap. If you must use one, choose a glycerine soap.
If there is extreme dryness and sensitivity, discontinue the use of soap and use only cleansing creams or gels. A cleansing gel, containing aloe vera, is ideal.
At night, after cleansing, massage the skin with a nourishing cream, for 3 to 4 minutes.
Use a moisturising lotion during the day and under make-up.
Use a sunscreen when you go out in the sun.
Use creamy foundations.
Wipe off all creams with moist cotton wool.
Beauty  Tips..........
BE A SPECIAL WOMAN
Hair Rinses......
Prepare a rinse at home, using natural ingredients.
VinegarAdd one part of vinegar to eight parts of water and use it as a final rinse after washing the hair. Vinegar helps to restore the normal acid-alkaline balance and keeps the scalp healthy.
HoneyAdd one tablespoon honey to a mug of water and use it as a last rinse. It benefits dry hair.
Neem leaves: Two handfuls of neem (MARGOSA) leaves can be added to 4 cups of hot water. Let it stand overnight. Next morning, strain the liquid and use it to rinse the hair. It keeps the scalp healthy and free from infections. Also relieves itching.
