Upon graduation in June l956, my parents took me on a summer trip through the mid-west and western United
States - that was an education in itself. I enrolled in Florida Southern College, Lakeland, Florida in September and
graduated with a BS degree in Business and Education in May, l960.
On June l2, l960 I married Jerry Bowman whom I met my second year at Florida Southern. I taught typing and
shorthand for one year at Stranahan High School, Ft. Lauderdale. Then spent two and half years with Jerry
at Ft. Jackson, S. C. while he did his military obligation. During that time, I worked as a receptionist/secretary
at the First Baptist Church in Columbia, S. C. After his tour of duty, we came home to Pompano Beach where I
taught one and half years at Pompano Beach High School.
We have two children - daughter, Vicki, who also graduated from Florida Southern. She has twins (9 years,
girl and boy). Son, Keith graduated from the University of Alabama - he has two boys (l0 and 8). They all
live in our area so we enjoy our Family.
Jerry and I retired from the Independent Insurance Industry in May 2003 after 40 years in business. We are
very busy with our Church, Community, traveling, and enjoying our Family.
