Game Recap - FHL - Season Opener

Participants -
Players - Jordan D., Jordan T., Josh, James, Maciej, Peter, Cole, Ezra, Alex J.
Goalies - Patrick, Taylor
Played at - Gareena.
Offensive Player of the Game - Alex J. - continous forecheck paid off in spades.
Defensive Player of the Game - Maciej - kept blocking shots.
Best Shotblock/Save - Patrick denying Jordan D. with a fantastic back leg save, just when he seemed down and out of the play.
Best Goal - Maciej, finishing a great cross-crease pass from Alex J. with a stretching backhand, tapping it past a sprawling Taylor.
Best Goalkeeper - Patrick over Taylor, but just barely.  Both players had excellent games, relying a lot on reflex rather than positioning.  They maintained a high level even when visibility was at its lowest.
Best Deke - Jordan T., undressing Jarzy with an incredible under the stick move that had the second year player shaking his head in disbelief.
Best Pass
- Peter, fishing out a loose ball and whipping a perfect pass to a streaking Josh.
Biggest 'Robbie' - Maciej, in front of the net, somehow managing to slap it wide from about 2 cm out.  Somewhere, in his home, in front of his dinner, Robbie cried out in acceptance.
Biggest 'Neil' - Ezra firing it over Taylor and out of the rink.
James' bogus  Moment - The humidity.  Players could not sit in one place (or stand for that matter) without sweating buckets.  Movement caused a little relief, but not much.
Ratings
(4 lowest, 10 highest) -
Jordan D. - 8; Faked an injury near the end, but looked good going forward.
Patrick - 9; Excellent reflex saves.  Didn't let in any soft goals.
Maciej - 9.5; Defensivel a rock, but also got forward to put on a passing clinic.
Taylor - 8.5; Great saves, despite the fact that he was wearing Robbie's terrible helmet.
James - 8; Struggled early on, but found some consistency on the forecheck.
Jordan T. - 9; As per usual, he brought a lot of effort and tenacity, as well as great passing.
Alex Jarzy - 10; Scored often and a lot.  Looks absolutely unstoppable in front of or around the net.
Peter - 9.5; He kept getting in the way, as his job description requires him to do.  A few bullet shots.
Josh - 8; Struggled with his shot, but the puck wizardry remains from last year.
Ezra - 8; Kept the game simple, and scored a fair share.
Cole - 8; His potent shot was missing, but his defense and effort was magic.
