| The Wierd FHL Recap - Wed. Sept. 13th, 2006
Participants - David, Jacob, Alex D.; Robbie, Maciej, Tommy, Peter; Patrick, Neil, James. Offensive Player of the Game - Tommy; The deadliest sniper. Defensive Player of the Game - Peter; Got his body in the way. Played at: Fareena. Best Shotblock/Save - Peter, saving a surefire snapshot from Neil with the shaft of his stick. Ridiculous highway robbery, dot com. Best Goal - Alex D., who faked past two defenders before roofing it into the wide corner. One of the nicest moves...ever. Best Goalkeeper - Peter, who like was aforementioned, got his body in the way. Best Deke - James, putting a how do ya do on Peter. The shot missed, but the forehand to backhand move was stuff of legends. Best Pass - Robbie to Maciej; from behind his own net, Robbie looked up and fired a tape to tape pass to an awaiting Mac. Biggest 'Robbie' - David, who upon doing the Robbie proclaimed for all to hear, "Bwah, I hate my backhand!" Biggest 'Jacob' - Maciej's clearance out of the rink, moments before he had gone for a ball...that had flown out of the rink. What a Jacob! Best Fashion Sense - Jacob; He knows where it's at. Worst Fashion Sense - David; Tight black tee shirts? Nah. Double nah. Bogus Moment - That game where no one scored. For like 15 minutes! More than a few Robbies were performed during that game. Notable Watchers - A woman, the team that had to wait its turn. Ratings (4 lowest, 10 highest) - David - 7; Jacob - 6.5; Alex D. - 7.5 Team rating - Won a fair share of games early on, but couldn't maintain their advantage later on. David faded like a pair of old shorts in the wash, and Jacob's Brian Leetch runs didn't do their usual damage. Alex D. pinched in from the point, with mixed effects. Robbie - 6; Maciej - 8; Tommy - 9; Peter - 8 Team Rating - A dissapointment early on, but won the last 3 games due to sheer hustle. The combo of Maciej and Tommy was especially deadly, with the latter finishing most of his shots. Peter was solid at the back, whilst Robbie fired his regular tally in despite constant floating. Patrick - 7; Neil - 8.5; James - 7 On paper probably the most talented squad, but was generally underachieving. Good passing from the twin Tower combo of Pat and Neil. James provided his usual flair up front, but found it hard to score later on. |
