Teams: Patrick, Robbie, Lenny, Yusko, David, Timmy, Jacob, Owen and Peter vs. Tommy, James, Maciej, Alex D., Cass, Tommy P., Spencer and Matthew Soegtrop. Score: A 14-13 win for Tommy's greens. Game Rating (out of 10): 10 - Very solid, fast moving, excellent turnup. Notable absentees: Danielle, Matthew Couto, Graham, Jordie, Kyle, Dylan. Offensive Player of the Game: Jacob. Was a consistent offensive throughout the game, causing my froo for nearly everyone that covered him. Defensive Player of the Game: Tommy. A few incredible plays, at key times, helped his squad win the game. The Hand of Tom reappeared more than once. Special Teams Player of the Game: David. Made an incredible handoff to Peter for the gold team's only kickoff TD, was a consistent booter of the ball, and was excellent at psychologically and physically scaring the beejeez out of the green defenders. Pitch and Weather: Ugly weather, with nay a few precipitation. The weather held up nicely but the pitch was very muddy in the middle. Many people found the pitch to be slippery, and many a few had slips. Summary: The game was up and down, as many FFL games are. The gold team took an early lead, being led by the tandem of Robbie and Patrick. David contributed a brilliant handoff to Peter for a kickoff touchdown and the greens were struggling to score. The only person of any consequence for the greens early on was Matt, who had all of his touchdowns in the first quarter of the game. However, Maciej soon found his rhythym and begun to complete his passes. The likes of Alex D., James (newly acquired for Lenny) and debutant Cass began to shine. The golds valiantly fought back, with Peter making a solid grab in the end zone, to tie it. The game however was put out of reach by the combo of Maciej and Cass, the latter who caught his 3 TD of the game and ran it all the way in for the win. Bogus Moment of the Day - David's handoff to Peter, as was aforementioned, was stupid good. Seriously. Made Maciej look like a goon and a half. Absolutely gorgeous play. Player Ratings (out of 10, 4 being the lowest):
Robbie - 8; Looked solid, throwing 6 passing touchdowns. However has to learn to block out useless plays and realize that he alone decides what the play is and who the ball is going to. Matthew Soegtrop - 8; Started brightly but faded down the stretch. 3 touchdowns. Patrick - 7.5; Didn't get a lot of service, despite being quite open at times. Maciej - 8; Took the greens under his wing. However, sweatted a bit too much. Tommy - 8.5; Again shows his football awareness has not eluded him. Was weak offensively but made up for it with some fantastic Hand of Toms in key situations. Jacob - 9; Although he talks way too much, Jacob was a key factor in this game. Was a constant threat on offense. Should probably not call a lot of those useless behind the line plays however. James - 7; Coming off a superb performance is always tough. Much better after getting traded to the greens. Lenny- 6; Had a nice touchdown, but dropped the ball a lot of times. Solid on defence. Owen - 7; Managed his usual 2 passing touchdowns, and this time even added a receiving one. Has a tendency to disappear for long periods of time. Timmy - 6.5; An okay debut for Timmy. Tried his hand at QB; probably not the greatest of ideas. Cass - 9; Incredible debut: 3 receiving touchdowns, 1 interceptions, numerous key defensive stops. Mind you, this was only his second time playing football: ever! Yusko - 7; Good debut. Made an incredible leaping grab for a touchdown, but was silent afterwards. Alex D. - 8; Always a go to receiver wherever he goes, managing 3 touchdowns this time around. Played excellently against big Dave, despite not really wanting to. Spencer - 6; Solid debut. Good catch and run but really didn't add much else. Lost defensively. Tommy P. - 7.5; Another debutant, probably the most effective. A great catch for his only touchdown, but misthrew at QB. Peter - 8; Peter's first FFL game in over a year was one to remember. He managed 1 receiving touchdown, 1 kickoff touchdown and several key blocks. Plays with reckless abandon on D. David - 9; Big Dave brings a lot of industry to every FFL game. Not only does he have a solid arm and catching ability, he's also a team leader. Great on defence and special teams. |
