| FHL Recap - Friday October 14, 2005 Participants - Robbie, Maciej, Patrick, Tommy, Danielle, Cody and James. Offensive Player of the Game - James; Although he has a mouth bigger than tinkish hue, James did manage to outscore everyone in all of the games played. Is a true poacher-floater type player, a la Sergei Berezin. Defensive Player of the Game - Danielle; edged out Maciej and Patrick, who also had solid defensive games. Continues to frustrate pretty much everyone with her ability to get her 7 foot stick in the way of nearly every stickhandle. Stopped Maciej on numerous occasions. Best Shotblock - Patrick, stopping a sure goal from his own teammate Cody, with his left leg. Best Goal - The goal was scored by James, but all the work was done by Patrick, who stopped Maciej on an attempted breakaway, deked past a sprawling Tommy, fired it to Robbie, who passed it to a well placed James in front of the net. Tic-tac-goal! Best Deke - Cody's unraveling of Maciej. Seriously, what a move. Between the legs move that hurt not a thing but Maciej's pride. Best Pass - Robbie, who on a near goal by Cody, whipped an incredible pass under the sticks of both Maciej and Danielle. Best Fashion Sense - Tommy, looking sharp with his Quicksilver gear. Worst Fashion Sense - Maciej, looking like a hobo in his blue hat. Bogus Moment - Cody somehow managing to score an awesome goal with the ball inside a plastic bag. The guy picked up the bag, with the ball already inside and dragged it to the front of the net and tucked it in. Not something you see everyday. Ratings - Tommy - 8.5; The effort that Tommy gave today was ridiculously high. Never gave up on any loose ball, and was rewarded with numerous goals early on. The goal scoring edge faded as the game went on. Went to buy milk later. Robbie - 7; Had a couple of brilliant passes but really needs to work on his first touch and stickhandling. Looks lost out there sometimes; like he's day dreaming about cheese, his red hat and a new Nintendo Revolution. Danielle - 9; Is well known as one of the best defensive players in the FHL, but is a very underrated passer. Had at least 20 incredible passes today, each one tape to tape to her teammates. Excellent performance. Maciej - 6; Had an awesome first game, but faded drastically down the stretch. Patrick - 10; Is quickly becoming the best all around player in the FHL. Manages to play excellent defence, can fight off checks, and has the awareness to find players with tape to tape passes. Great game! James - 7.5; Scored a lot of goals again, but was mostly lazy on the defensive side. On a team with a defensive dynamo to cover his gambles, James can really thrive. When playing alone, the weakness is exposed however. Cody - 8.5; Only played in two games, but showed what he can bring to the FHL: stickhandling, offensive prowess and scoring ability. Has a great awareness of the game, but is slower than Robbie taking public transport. |
