Teams: David, Jordan, Josh, Sierra, Peter and Neil vs. Ezra, Matthew S., Jacob, Robbie, Patrick, Moyra and Maciej. Score: A 7-6 final for Dave's marooned squad. Game Rating (out of 10): 9 - Scrappy, with a lot of trash talking. Notable absentees: Tommy, Alex, James, Matthew C., Graham. Offensive Player of the Game: Josh. Shifty. Defensive Player of the Game: Peter. No pain threshold. Special Teams Player of the Game: David. Gave his blocks. Pitch and Weather: Weather better than most days, so the FFL reconvened after a long layoff. Pitch was off much mud however, with Maciej, Josh and many others feeling the ill effects of the slippery slopes. Summary: The maroon squad for the most part kept their lead. Led by QB Jordan, they had good pass receptions from Neil, Peter and in particular Josh. On the other side of the ball, the lilipad green squad was led by an up and down Robbie, who did both the magnificent and the horrible. He managed to chip away at a seemingly insurmountable 6-4 lead with a handoff to Jake and a pass to Patrick, but was powerless to stop the inevitable. The game was ended when Peter got a sweet handoff from Jordan and took a block from David and Neil to scramble in to the zone, with much glee. Bogus Moment of the Day - The trash talk. It was simply ridiculous in nature. Everything from arguing amongst opponents, to flat out name calling. Even quarterbacks and receivers got into it, in particular Pat and Rob, a once strong duo. The talk, although seemingly hurtful, added a lot of anger and emotion to a game that was full of frustrating pass interference calls, as well easily dropped passes and inaccurate throws and kicks. Honorable mentions go to Robbie's leap of faith after picking up a fumble from Maciej, and Neil throwing the ball at Rob's balls. Player Ratings (out of 10, 4 being the lowest):
Robbie - 6.5; Blew both hot and cold. Had his fair share of TDs, but confidence needs boost. Patrick - 7; Peripheral for the most part due to lack of service. 1 TD. Maciej - 7.5; Provided much needed flair and trashtalk. Josh - 8.5; Was Jordan's go to guy for the night. David - 7.5; Powerful Dave ran for two touchdowns, but could have had more. Neil - 7; Very solid without the ball. A penchant for causing injury. Moyra - 6; Ran a few yards after a catch. Great success. Sierra - 6; More peripheral than a mouse and keyboard at a computer shop. Peter - 9; He just keeps getting better and better. Jordan - 8; Good arm. Spread the offence around expertly. Ezra - 6.5; Never really got going. Eons better than what he showed today. Jacob - 8; A nice complete game from the perennial Humber 4th string allstar. Matthew S. - 7; Compensated for a lack of offensive service with solid defence. |
