FHL Recap - Tues., Mar. 7th, '06

Participants - Alex D., James, Tommy, Maciej, Patrick, Robbie, Graham and Jacob.
Offensive Player of the Game - Tommy; Game of his life today.
Defensive Player of the Game - Tommy; Stopped a lot of key offensive plays.  Turned those plays into offensive opps for his team.
Played at: Garden Hockey Arena, or the Gareena.
Best Shotblock - Graham, who with his pads kicked out not only one but two of Maciej's surefire bullet shots.  Out of nowhere, Gee Ram showed some serious reflexes.
Best Goal - Maciej again, who started from his own zone, deked past all 3 defenders, rushed up to the goalie, screwed up the deke but managed to tip it past between a shocked Gee Ram.  Worthy of Kovalchuk.
Best Deke - Maciej once again, who unravelled the living bullcrap out of Jacob.  "You and those damn soccer moves," exclaimed the Pol-bas.
Best Pass
- Maciej completes the clean sweep with a pass worthy of the hockey gods, passing it between his legs and around his back to Tomstick, who was stoned only by the post.
Biggest Whiff - Patrick, who fired one of his first shots way wide of the net.  He was all alone and managed to "Robbie" it.
Best Fashion Sense
- James, looking as sharp as his stick.
Worst Fashion Sens
e - Graham.  Where does he find those hats?
Bogus Moment
- Patrick firing the ball up the middle of the rink is a common sight nowadays.  Imagine his teammates shock when for some reason, despite having serious time on his hands, whipped the ball from behind his own net right onto the stomach of a surprised Jake.  A true Tie Domi goal.
Notable Watchers - None.  Yay.
Ratings (4 lowest, 10 highest) -
Tommy - 10; Coming off one his worst games ever, Tommy showed that he has a lot to offer besides just defence.  Scored more than anyone else, converting countless one-timers.  Forechecked well, passing excellent.
Alex D. - 7; Someone should give the guy pads, so he can play some keeper.  Deking was superb on the day; used the body well.
Maciej - 9; Some fantastic individualism.  Stickhandling exmastermongee.
Patrick - 8; Improved his passing on the day, and was therefore much more effective.  Cleared the ball off the line more than once.
James - 7; Frustrated most of the time because of his skinny stick.  Had his share of goals, but found handling passes a trouble.  Continues to float.
Graham - 7; Played keeper due to illness and did quite well.  Let in a few softies, but that's because he has the attention span of a doorknob.
Robbie - 5; Back from the 'shwa, Robbie may have just drank some of their water because he had a really bad day.  Couldn't score and was afraid to stickhandle for some reason.  Is better than he lets on, but needs milk.
Jacob - 6; Hustle is there, but needs to relax a bit.  On one play, threw the goalie into the net and wondered why the goal was called back.
