FHL Recap - Wed., Mar. 1st, '06

Participants - Maciej, Robbie, Alex D., James, Tommy, Patrick, Danielle, Graham, and Matthew Couto.
Offensive Player of the Game - Matthew Couto; A constant danger with the puck.  Distributed the ball like he was a factory worker of sorts.
Defensive Player of the Game - Tommy; Gettin' a lot harder to get past the guy, that's for sure.
Best Shotblock - Alex D., who somehow managed to stone Maciej up close after McCaul set him up beautifully.  Stone of the century.
Best Goal - Maciej, who got a pass from James and fired it through a maze of players into the top corner of the net.  Classy.
Best Deke - Maciej's unravelling of Matthew Couto was nice, but Couto came back with his own, this time putting the ball under Maciej's stick before firing a nice shot on net.
Best Pass
- Danielle to Matthew Couto.  Danielle stopped a run from Pat and fired it almost the entire length of the rink to Matt, who doesn't often miss such opps.
Biggest Whiff - Surprisingly, it wasn't Robbie today, but rather Tommy.  He missed a few sitters in front of the net, and Couto let him know about it.
Best Fashion Sense
- Danielle, classy play combined with a classy jacket.
Worst Fashion Sens
e - Maciej, who forgot to wear his crappy jacket.
Bogus Moment
- Maciej running from Tommy to Danielle, forechecking his heart out.  It didn't work, but it was worth a try.  And then some.
Notable Watchers - Frankie, Miranda and some other one.  Didn't register much on the cheering end and legs were a hassle for the sticks.
Ratings (4 lowest, 10 highest) -
Tommy - 9; Stopped offensive powerhouses James and Maciej more than once and is proving to be a bit of a pain the ass for would-be stickhandlers.  Fired in a fair share of goals as well.
Robbie - 7; A much better game, but can be a liability when not focused.
Alex D. - 8; Played goaltender most of the game, and was the reason his team won.  Great saves on numerous occasions, a real Marcel Cousinneau.
Maciej - 8; Good effort on the forecheck, but forgot crappy jacket.  Doh!
Patrick - 5.5; Must work on passing in order to be truly effective as a point man.  Had some real bone head plays, but admitted to his mistakes.
James - 7; Frustrated by Tomstick.  Needs to float a lot less and get the ball loose in order to create chances for others.  Led his team in goals.
Matthew Couto - 9; His first game in quite a while, but showed some world class skills.  Doesn't venture back into his own zone often, which is a minus.  Plusses far outweight this however; is an impact scorer and playmaker.
Graham - 5; Complained about damn near everything.  Tried his hand at goalsucking today and failed miserably.
Danielle - 8; Good overall showing.  Always willing for the backcheck and digs the ball out of the corners.  Good passing on the day, but should shoot more often.
