| Game Recap - FHL - June 17, 2008 - "One of the best games ever played" Participants - Team 1 - James, Maciej, Josh, Patrick (goalie) - 16 Team 2 - Jordan D., Jordan T., Neil, Cole, Taylor (goalie) - 20 Played at - Gareena, home of the ever receding dirt pile. Offensive Player of the Game - Jordan D. - dominating in the opponents zone. Defensive Player of the Game - Jordan T. - positioning was excellent. Best Shotblock/Save - Taylor, full stretch to deny a quick wrist shot from Josh with a left pad. Best Goal - Josh, finishing an incredible passing display for his team with a top shelf effort on Taylor. Off the crossbar and in, it doesn't get any better than that. Best Goalkeeper - Patrick over Taylor. The closest call ever, considering both goaltenders were incredible on this day. Pat made more saves, and better ones at that, but Taylor was no slouch. Best Deke - Maciej a full 180 around a confused looking Neil. One for the books, let me tell you. Best Pass - Josh, sending in Maciej on a breakaway. The lanky Pole knocked the ball down and fired, but was stymied by a well positioning goalie Taylor. Biggest 'Robbie' - Jordan T., swing and a miss in front of the net after being set up ideally by Cole. Biggest 'Neil' - James firing it off Jordan D. and out behind into the grass. One of the only shots to go out of the rink, the play was so good. Best Fashion Sense - James, well dressed bastard if there ever was one. Worst Fashion Sense - Patrick - wore a Leaf jersey, and looked terrible. Played well though. The James Moment - There were none. This was the best hockey game ever played. Ratings (4 lowest, 10 highest) - Jordan D. - 10; MVP form has re-emerged. Incredibly powerful, no one could touch him on this day. Patrick - 10; Some of the most incredible saves I've ever seen were thrown out by Pat in this game. Maciej - 9.5; Incredible vision and chemistry with Josh and James. Offensively dynamite, but also got back. Cole - 9; Great on the forecheck and added a lot of industry from the wing. Shot was spot on. Jordan T. - 9; His great two-way play allowed for the other Jordan to have a lot more offensive freedom. Neil - 9; A new stick in hand, but the old dependable defenceman remains. Confident and surefire backchecking. James - 9; Has soft hands that many pro-players would die for. Worked as hard as he ever has. Taylor - 10; Incredible shiftiness, helped by his "new" equipment. Made a couple of world-class stops. Josh - 10; Deadly as always in front of the net, but also showed a fantastic passing game. Plays at top speed. |
