Teams: Robbie, Jordan, Ezra and Jacob vs. Maciej, James, Tommy, Neil and Peter. Score: a 10 to 8 victory for Rob's bracious blues. Game Rating (out of 10): 8 - Good atmosphere, but a lot of dropped catches. Notable absentees: Patrick (filming), Alex, Graham, Jordan, Josh. Offensive Player of the Game: Jordan. A class above. Defensive Player of the Game: Ezra. Allowed few yards. Special Teams Player of the Game: Maciej. Got down the field. Pitch and Weather: The first game of the season in the snow. Cold enough to nip at the hands of those gloveless. Flurries reduced QB vision. Summary: The first FFL game ever to be "televised" was distinctly average. That is to say, there were incredible plays and there were also boneheaded, lackadaisical moves that confounded many. Rob's blues were led by a top notch receiving corps, with second timer Jordan leading the way with an astonishing 5 touchdowns. Mac's lightly tanned squad got nice even production, with each player having their moment in the figurative sun. The game ended as expected, on a Jordan touchdown. Bogus Moment of the Day - Peter's falls were classic as per usual, as was Maciej's destruction of Jacob from behind, but the bogus moment must go to the move Jordan pulled on three players from the tan squad. After making a spectacular diving catch over Peter, he managed to scramble up to his feet, eluding a sliding Maciej, juking past a now pissed off Peter and rushing past a scrambling Neil into the end zone. Sheer class. Sheer bogus defending. Player Ratings (out of 10, 4 being the lowest):
Robbie - 8; Threw 10 passing touchdowns, but was blessed with a superlative receiving corps. Maciej - 6.5; Worked his tail off as per usual, but threw a costly interception near the end. James - 7; The most consistent receiver on the losing squad. Jordan T. - 10; 5 touchdowns, solid defensive contribution, great laterals. Man of the match. Neil - 7.5; Another solid all around game from Neil. A few too many drops however. Jacob - 6; Great early catch for his lone TD, but faded down the stretch. Peter - 6; Ran for two touchdowns, but seemed jaded throughout. Ezra - 8; Did what had to be done for the most part. A good second option for Robbie. Tommy - 6; Ran for a touchdown, but looked rusty. No sign of Hand of Tom. |
